As I visit my brother in Ohio several times a year, I naturally expected to be able to OC in Northern Ohio.

After reading the following paragraph in the Ohio CCS pdf, I came across this....

    [line]

    Reciprocity
Ohio has agreements with other states to recognize one another’s concealed
handgun licenses. Consult the Attorney General’s web site for the
    most recent list of agreements.

Be aware the laws of the other state apply
to you when you are in that state
    .

    Open Carry
Ohio’s concealed carry laws do not regulate “open” carry of firearms.
If you openly carry, use caution. The open carry of firearms is a legal
    activity in Ohio.

    [line]

That section in RED says to me that the laws of the Florida CCW apply to me while carrying in Florida. Obviously this means the prohibition of various places that I can go to but seeing as how Florida is NOT an open carry state, does that also apply to me as a Florida CCW holder?

Or is that paragraph being applied to the OHIO CCW holder when he comes to Florida (or another reciprocal state)?
Just trying to stay out of trouble in Cuyahoga and Lorain county for a few days or so.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Open carry in Ohio is constitutional. Cuyahoga and Lorain counties are not in Ohio. They are countries unto themselves.

Yes it most definitely does apply to you. Other than providing for unlicensed carriage of your loaded firearm in certain places in your car, in your home and likely in your place of business, Florida does not provide for unlicensed or licensed open carry, except for a very few limited circumstances, which aren't even worth mentioning for most people because they are so limited. Whether you have the Florida CCW permit or some other state's you must follow Florida firearm laws when you are in Florida. In most cases you may not open carry a handgunin the state ofFlorida.

When in Rome indeed. Ohio firearms laws (and ALL Ohio laws) apply to people in Ohio; Both visiting and residents. Your FL permit is valid in OH. I carry on a FL permit. I do not have an Ohio permit. I obey Ohio law, and so should you when you are here.

You have as much a right to open carry in Ohio as any Ohio resident.

    Hope this helps.

That pamphlet and the sentence you quote is aimed at Ohio CCW licensees. It tells Ohio licensees to obey the CCW laws of the state they are visiting.

    RT84,

Yep, after I reread it a few more times it made a bit more sense.

    Thanks.
