I also voted. Looks like Chuck Baldwin got over 4% of the vote hereand McCain throttled BHO in our state. Don young is winning and so is Stevens. The reality is that if Begich beats Stevens, he will be very hard to get rid of for decades to come, so that is a vital race.

Hopefully Young and Stevens will close it up, I'd hate to see either lose their seat.
On a similar note, how many of you knew anything about the judges on the backside?

If I am unfamiliar with the judges, as I was in this case, then I will always vote to not retain them. We can always find more judges...

Voted to replace all the judges... Clean sweep for a new change. Oh.... Would anyone vote for a person that is guilty and will cost the government $200,000 to $300,000 for another election! Also what message does it send to our young people... "I was found guilty so keep voting for me." When will someone use this in the court system? He acts like my dad did 4-5 yrs ago. My dad acted like everyone owes me, he acted like he was right about everything and then everyone was after him. It's part of getting old but you have to know when to call it quits. Senator Ted Stevens needs to step down... Palin has asked, McCain has asked. Who else needs to ask???

Wow...that is extremely lacking and more than a bit sad. Did you just move up here? Stevens has done a incredible amount for this state. Much of what we are today is to to the Senator.
That being said, the Gov.'s case against Stevens was, IMO, lacking and didn't prove anything, except that the prosecutionis incompetant. Hopefully Stevens will get the mistrial he should have gotten long ago through the appeals system, and all will be righted. On top of this, Alaska, not DC, is where he should have been tried. This was, I believe, completely a political move by the Pros. to ensure Stevens conviction.
On top of this, who gives a crap what McCain said,that also was entirely political, due to when he said it.As wasPalin's remark. She will have her own slate of questions to answer once she returns to the state.ForStevens to step down, the only people that should ask, and the only people that need to ask, are the people of Alaska. NotMcCain, not Palin, the PEOPLE of Alaska....Hey! Wait a minute! Isn't that why we have elections? Well I'll be,it is!:celebrate
That being said,Stevens got my vote, and a helluva lot of other folks up here too. I honestly hope he gets reelected, cleared of any wrong doing, and goes back to doing his job for Alaska.

I will go on record and say that I voted for Bob Bird. He got 4% of the vote, which is not bad for a Constitution Party candidate. The fact of the matter is that as much as I have supported Senator Stevens my entire adult life, I just could not simply offer my support this go-around.
Whether or not his "conviction" holds, he was neverthelessstill up to some improper dealings and associationsas far as I am concerned. He still is also techinically a convicted felon. He is only appealing the actual conviction itself, based upon the sketchy things that occured in his trial. If his appeal was over with and he was exonerated, I may have thought of offering my vote.
Lastly, he is a Republican that has changed with the party and has not kept to his constitutional oath over the years. He voted for the bailout (socialism), supports the Patriot Act and has voted for it Twice, supports Real ID, etc..
All that being said, I do think he has done a lot for getting federal dollars to the state. I would not normally support that in any situation constitutionally because I do not believe in pork and earmarks, however, the federal government owns roughly 65% of the state ofAlaska, by far more than any other state. Therefore, "they" the people, should be chipping in for projects here... Just my opinion.
