So I woke up this AM with egg on my face, I could not fathom my state would vote for a socialist/communist. I was wrong. That being said it is what it is, time to take action. I spent 6 years in the Marine's (Infantry) and was in the first gulf war I have never been beat, beat up but not beat. All of this out of way here are some thoughts I had and I will keep this on topic of open carry.

1. If you are a smoker stop. Cigarettes cost around 3 bucks a pack. I know I am a smoker. That's 3 bucks that could go to purchasing a firearm to open carry along with ammunition. Another upside is this is less tax revenue going to the state. I dont think we need to discuss health benefits.

2. Exercise start small go for walks in the evenings (open carrying of course) build up to jogs ect.

3. Cut any and all unnecessary spending ie soda, alcohol ect. Money that I spend on cigarettes, beer and soda per month I could have purchased a new XDM for open carry. I am really coveting that pistol.

4. Open source like open carry is your friend, look into it there are some great projects out there Trucrypt being one of them. http://www.truecrypt.org/. Open source software is free so that we can save resources to purchase guns and ammo for open carry.

5. Keep a low profile while open carrying. Please don't read this as hiding, Take it as staying off the skyline when on patrol when you are on the skyline you have made yourself a target. Dont be a target.

6. Be active and vigilant watch for legislation that can be used to restrict liberties and freedom then hammer your representative. Situational awareness for open carry following proposed legislation will help with this.

7. Nothing like doing a little side work for cash to purchase ammo for open carry. Cash is king.

yeah, if a gun owner wants to spend his money wisely, he (or she as the case may be) should get geared up with plenty of reloading gear. Now is the time. Get all the brass, primers, bullets, and powder now while it can be had without backgrounds checks, high taxes, and limits and registeration.

I am stocking up to be able to reload my own ammo before it becomes more the concern of "big brother". I have been reloading for years and have a number of presses, stacks of dies, and all the accessories.

A person can buy EVERYTHING needed to reload, plus lots of little extras for about HALF the price of a 1911A1. Best money you will ever spend unless you

BUY A SAFE.

sounds like the promises ive been making to myself for a while. quitting smoking and dipping will save money that can be put to better use and keep the cancer bug at bay. Good advice about walking the "military crest" in regards to open carrying. Now more than ever, working with our local representatives to affect 2A legislation should be a priority. Big changes are on the horizon. The enemy has the highground right now. We need to get on the offensive.

Here are a couple I came up with.



Give themoney that you did not spend on junk food, etc, to conservative organizations, local, State and National elected officials that share our views on the 2nd Amendment and other issues important to us. Become a member of any and all organizations that promote and or defend our rights.

Attend any town hall meetings/met and greetshosted by our elected officials and make yourself noticed in a good way to these people.

Write letters to the local paper.

fund raise for those elected officials who support our views and rights.

All great ideas. Quitting whatever addiction you have will save you money. Staying in good physical shape should keep health problems at bay. It's good to live a more healthy lifestyle, but make sure you "treat" yourself on a regular basis. Otherwise you'll binge on the bad things all at once.

One of the most important things to do is be financially stable. In times of crisis, the rich can weather it better than the poor. Have at least a few months of savings. Ideally people should be saving at least 10% of their take home as well as having 401Ks or IRAs. If you have a minor emergency (car/house repair etc), then you can just dip into savings rather than living without somethingto pay that bill.

I was thinking along these lines myself.

All the negativity of the past year or two has me worn out, and taking a look at things I can do to take better care of myself.

I'dalso liketo add joining an ACTIVE conservative organization to find ways for us to get our message out. I have no idea what that organization may be, but the MSM is against us, and always will be. Maybe the Republican Party, and maybe not. The Dems seem to have a lock on keeping people in need of government assistance, and there's a much better way for folks to live their lives than that.

I need something to reestablish some semblance of control.

Cash is already king! A formation of a new political party is on the horizon as Conservatism is not the same as Republicanism. It may take form sooner than later and its founders will be disenchantedmembers of both politicalparties. As for those who never hadvoted before in their life prior to this electionandare expecting a free lunch, don't hold your breath waiting for a handout.

Virginia went to the left because it has become so polluted with outsiders.. people who come here from other parts of the country, and the world, and bring their corrupted ideas with them to change Virginia. The single largest part of the state for this, as everyone knows, is Northern Virginia. Lots of people, lots of money, and only about 20% are native to the state (as am I and my wife). Virginia ideals, heritage, and traditions are rapidly getting pushed into history. THAT is why Virginia went left this election.

As a former smoker I feel it is important to note that quiting and firearms carry may not really be compatible. At least in the short term. Most people get really .... Um ... well ... "irritable" in the first weeks after quiting. So while quiting is a good idea, you may want to do it when other "pressures" can be reduced to minimum. Like maybe stay home for a few days, or better yet go on a vacation and quit.

It would really be unfortunate if you had to spend all the money you saved in your new smoke free lifestyle to pay legal fees for shooting an irritant that happened to push your button while your tolerance was artificiallyreduced by a lack of nicotine in your system.

There is a lot of truth to what you say. The sad thing is that many come from the Northeast where they grew tired of high taxes cost of living etc. Yet, they come here and start voting for the very people who vote for high taxes. It does not make any sense to me.But, make no mistake the dislike of President Bush also factored into it.

Well I voted in Suffolk (on your list) for the side that didn't prevail, but my parents have voted Dem since they started voting. Both have lived in Suffolk their entire voting lives (8+ presidential elections each), so if they're any indicator of the political make-up, Suffolk didn't change really...

On a positive note I usually smoked a little over a pack a day. Today I cut it down to 10 Plan is to do the same tomorrow altering daily habits and behaviours.

On the sodas usually consume 3 to 5 cans of mtn dew Today 0

Did have a Beer with dinner.

I do appreciate the sentiment and concern over my uuumm mental well being I will be ok little grouchy but thats not unusually

Interesting idea, conservatism is not dead the republicanism in its current form may be but conservatism is not.
