(I knew that headline would get attention!):D

I'm thinking of new federal legislation, and since our state's senators are

1) so concerned with gun safety,

2) realize (hopefully) that stolen guns are the most common source for criminals,

3) understand that property crime will increase as the economy tanks (but of course "The One" will save us from economic collapse),

Here's the idea: a tax credit for all new purchases of gun safes. Straight off the top, not a deduction. What better motivation to get people to lock up guns not in use (and other valuable stuff).

What do you think? Would it fly?

With the incoming administration, controled Senate and house, I think they could care less about onehaving a gun safe, or gun safe tax credit.Theythink more along the lines of why does oneneedreward for buing a safe, if we can take away thier right to own guns.

Because they know they cannot, and there are Dems that do not want to, take away your right to own a gun. This will help them get a safe in more homes with guns and at the same time help us to purchase them. I honestly see it as a win win if it could be passed, however I do agree that they will think along the lines of if you can purchase a gun then you have the money to purchase a safe.

It would be discriminatory. I cannot afford the weight that installing a safe for longarms would add to the boat. I'll take a tax credit for building an arms locker though!:p

Just get one of these and put some pontoons and a keel on it:

step one: remove the ballast from the keel

step two: re-line keel to hold ammo and weapons

step three: stay away from reefs and rocks

This is not a free safe, it still has to be paid for by someone. I personally don't like the idea of having my money that I worked for taken from me and given to some jerk off who sits on their fourth point of contact; so why would I do the same to someone else? Just say no to socialism kids!

This idea is very stupid, sorry to say. I'm surprised this thread is even still alive.

Equal protection under the law, anybody? Tax cuts for gun owners won't fly, not in a million years.

I would not support any special tax credits - which are a form of wealth redistribution - for gun safes, nationalized health care, or a chicken in every pot.

Just give a tax cut to everyone instead of volunteering a rich man's money for him.
