This is a Newsmax article .I see this as something that we are headed for if we don.t stand as one..The SS was a national securityforce Statsicherheitsdienst which literally translates state security service,as was the KGB.

WASHINGTON — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation's foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps "to renew our diplomacy."

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."

Obama's transition office did not respond immediately to Broun's remarks.

I do remember that comment, and instead of taking a small part of it and using it against him, I listened to the whole thing and what he was trying to say. While he chose his words poorly, the intent of the comment was dead on. What he was saying was when folks get frustrated and scared, the tend to fall back to familiar things to reassure themselves, and he was right. Then people took that comment to mean "He hates guns and God!".

I don't think he hates them, he's just REALLY REALLY scared of them. That's what happens when you live in Chicago, they'll put a bullet in you for crack.

I've learned about the church he attended for 20 years. They don't love any God that I know of.
I've read through his record on gun control. He doesn't hate guns; he hates guns in the hands of peasants (that would be US, the unwashed masses).

It's wrong to isolate one remark in a speech and judge a man on that. It is just as wrong to isolate one speech. In looking at the entirety of obama (as much as is available) these little remarks are in keeping with his consistent theme of a powerful government ruling over its subjects.

Tinfoil Hat Syndrome has an equally ludicrous opposite: Complacency.

Wow, not even a week and we have already started to pounce on each other. What deros is saying is not that far fetched, although it is worded in a way that makes other automatically jump to conclusions. Everyone needs to take a step back and look at the main concept behind what is being said "He is gonna take our guns" or at the very least severely restrict them. I honestly can't believe how effective the anti's have been at their campaigns of misinformation. Come on guys, keep up the flow of information but if you read something that sounds a little off then just take it with a grain of salt and put it in the back of your mind.

He may not be Hitler but he very well could have a Marxist agenda. He would first have to attack the 2A and a Civil Security Force under his control would be the perfect weapon to march into our homes and attempt to disarm us. So you need to shut up and read what Mr. Obama said during his speech in Colorado.

I recall 4 years ago the democrat voters who lost the election to see a republican run congress and presidency were CONVINCED that roe v wade would be over turned. They were CONVINCED that Bush would reinstate the military draft to support sending more troops to Iraq. They were CONVINCED that we would be invading Syria and Iran. They were CONVINCED that Muslims in the US would be rounded a la Japanese internment camps circa 1942-46.

Nothing came of any of those fears.

Now we’re seeing the reverse situation in which the Democrats have control of the presidency and congress. New fears are being introduced about gun confiscations and a serious reduction of rights pertaining to same. People are convinced that Israel will fall in the next year to two years, that Iraq will have all troops removed 20 minutes after Senator Obama is sworn in as president.

Until I see actions being actively taken to achieve any of these fears, they will be just that. . .fears. I opt not to live under the potential of “what might happen” as if I did I would never know a moments rest. This doesn’t mean we shouldn't all keep an active eye out and prepare for possibilities (I actually encourage the latter) but to speak as if you KNOW this is what will happen without any evidence to support your hypothesis is just rambling paranoia which gives ammunition to those whospeak againstfirearms and gun rights activists.

Yes there has been rhetoric which deserves attention and bears watching to ensure no action comes from it; but how often has political pandering to base causes been lip service which was then never followed through on?

Until there is something tangible to be angry and outraged over. . .take a deep breath, relax, but continue to watch.

"Obama is not Hitler; ..."

And you know this because...?

Because of the close correlation between his campaign talk and his previous political actions?

Because of the squared away nature of the people connected with him, such as the terrorist, the rabble rouser, and the gangster?

All right, the term "Hitler" may not have been precise enough for you. How about "power mad socialist who may bring ruin to Germany - ah, er, America."

Hitler is not a "term." Anyone comparing Obama to Hitler has no understanding whatsoever of the history of Nazi Germany. Read what you've written, it's not even cogent.
