Disparity of Force on Campus

In addition to the delusion that banning guns from a college campus will actually keep guns off the college campus, here's a story from Election night where a victim was attacked by an Obama-frenzied group of four, apparently for the "crime" of publicly supporting Sarah Palin.

The most ridiculous line in the article: "The number one concern of the college is for the safety of our students," Shelman said.

If safety was a true concern, they would admit that campus security cannot be every where at all times, and allow students to arm and defend themselves.

One cannot ban "disparity of force" from campus (as you can an inanimate object like a gun), so why is this ever present threat never addressed?

Sarah Palin supporter attacked on Augsburg campus on election night

Student says woman called her racist

She wore the button in support of her home-state candidate for vice president.

Now Annie Grossmann, 18, a first-year student at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, says the Sarah Palin button led four women to attack her on campus on election night.

"I didn't expect something like that to happen," said the Delta Junction, Alaska, native.

The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the assault, police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Garcia said Wednesday. No suspects have been identified.

It was about 9:45 p.m. Nov. 4 when Grossmann left her dorm building, where she was watching the U.S. presidential election results unfold with a group of friends, she said.

When Grossmann walked around the building, four women approached her.

She did not recognize them.

Before she said anything to them, one of the women started calling Grossmann racist, spitting in her face as she spoke. Grossmann identified the suspects as black and close to her age, but she did not provide futher descriptions.

Grossmann tried to leave, but the woman held her, pulling her by the shoulders, she said. Grossmann finally pushed the woman and walked away.

That's when the woman grabbed her by the shoulder, spun her around and punched her in the face. The punch caused Grossmann to hit her head on a brick wall.

"Are you serious?" she asked the woman. The suspects left the scene, Grossmann said.

Grossmann returned to her dorm to ice her wound. She reported the attack the next

day to campus security and the Minneapolis police.

"It's sad. I'm not racist in the least. It's ridiculous," Grossmann said Wednesday.

The attack didn't surprise other Republicans at Augsburg, who say they often are ridiculed for their political beliefs, which are in the minority at the school.

"It's a hard thing to know what to do," said Eric Franzen, 36, a graduate student and a Republican.

Augsburg spokesman Jeff Shelman said college officials do not believe the women are students. Campus security reviewed surveillance video of building entrances 30 minutes before and after the fight and did not see women matching the description.

"The number one concern of the college is for the safety of our students," Shelman said.

Grossmann said students were knocking at her door and slipping negative notes about John McCain under it when she returned home on election night.

Grossmann said she missed a day of school and two days of hockey practice because she had blurred vision. She also spoke to the school counselor.

She hopes her story will reach the women who assaulted her.

"I want them to know what America stands for. Obviously, they don't," Grossmann said.

I am always amazed at how often people who support the "party of tolerance" act in this way. I guess they only tolerate people who agree with them.:banghead:

Nothing amazing about it. The most racist and bigoted groups in this country are liberals, minorities, and "open-minded" progressives. Do you think this will be treated as a hate crime? Heck no, but you can be sure that if the tables were turned it would be.

It seems that it's only a hate crime if you're an ethnic minority, a believer in any religion except Christianity, or pushing a non-traditional moral agenda. I'm not judging anyone from these groups as I have friends that fall into them,it just seems that white, Christian, conservatives don't get the same protection in the law.

Have you noticed that those that claim to want to see racism eradicated are the same ones that are keeping it alive? Obama couldn't let the fact stand that his Marxist/socialist ideology was unacceptable by many in this country, so he twisted it around and accused those that dissagreed of being racist.

I doubt that the black women that eledgedly attacked Miss Grossman have any idea how closely their actions ressemble the actions of Hitlers SA during the Nazi party's rise to power.

I wonder if in the Golden State you can retain a firearm in your dorm? Aren't there laws saying you can't restrict ownership or posession if it is within your residence, regardless of school zone or not?

I personally believe that according to the law the fact that it is where you live enables you to keep a firearm there...However it is very likely against the university code of conduct (or whatever it might be called at a particular school)

aka...the statute that indicated doesn't say anything about 'except as indicated in blah-blah' it does indicate that it must be 'otherwise lawful' but as I understand it school codes are not laws...
