I thought guns weren't allowed on mall property???
Sadly I think more problems are going to arise thanks to layoffs and the economic climate
WASHINGTON—Fairfax County police say a shooting has taken place at Tyson's II Galleria Saturday. The shooting happened shortly after 12:30p.m.
Police say they shot an armed man near Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant.
Officer Shelly Broderick with Fairfax County police, says the man failed to obey the commands of the officers to put his weapon down. "He made a movement and one officer discharged one round," she says.
The suspect was shot in the lower body and taken to a local hospital. His injuries are described as serious.
Police have not released the identity of the man.
NBC/Channel 4 is reporting the man is a former employee of Maggiano's who was recently fired from the restaurant.
When he returned to the restaurant today, employees described the man as acting strange and called police.
