Permit transferrable?

Here is my situation. I have a HCP in MS (have had for a year or so). I just recently moved to East TN. Would I have to go through the class to get my TN permit or will my MS permit just transfer over? I am assuming my MS permit is still valid as I still own property in MS and my driver license is still MS.

Thanks for the input

  1. If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee. Such person will be processed as a renewal applicant if the eligibility requirements of the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. View application requirements by statefor persons holding a Handgun Carry Permit from another state and applying for a Tennessee Handgun Carry P

  1. Mississippi
Applicant must be twenty-one (21), take a DOS approved handgun safety course, complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, and pay the applicable renewal fee.

As FLMason posted, it looks like you will still have to take a Handgun Safety Course, but you don't have to be fingerprinted again and you will only have to pay the $50 for a renewal instead of the $115 for a new permit.

since Miss requires a DOS Handgun Safety Course I don't think he will need to take another one for the Tenn renewal application. He'll need to get a Tn DL, too. Can do all that at the same place.

Apparently it does not meet TN standards. If you check the link in FLmason's postit list the requirements for people from different states to be able to transfer their permit. (hecopied and pasted the onesforMS)

It specifically says that someone from MS has to take a Handgun Safety Course.
