less inexpensive shooting around with an AR-15 or an AK-47?

I have some ARs and got .22lr uppers to shoot, alot of money up front, but when I go to the range I can shoot 500+rds at a time for $20 and not think about it costing $200. I got the first one about 6 months ago and have put 4k thru it all ready.

How much money should I expect to spend if I want to build a .22LR AR? Seems expensive. What about a new barrel? What about the magazine?

How much $$$ did you spend?
