Along with the state law to allow medical use of marijuana that voters passed Nov. 4 was an ordinance approved in Ferndale that went a step farther -- allowing medical marijuana distribution. On Friday, after Ferndale City Attorney Dan Christ issued an opinion saying state laws preempted the local ordinance, a spokesman for Ferndale police said his department would ignore the local measure. "This new ordinance really has no teeth in it whatsoever," said Lt. William Wilson. If anyone tries to distribute marijuana in Ferndale, "they'll find that we're going to enforce all the laws against possession" in state and federal criminal codes, Wilson said.

You would think, Ferndale especially, would have learned from the lawsuit they lost against the Firearms pre-emption a few years ago. Sheesh, talk about stupid.
