I have a friend who was denied the sale of a gun at a shop in CT because he "just missed" the cutoff time of 7PM.

He was also told that the cutoff time was 5PM and 3PM on Sat and Sun, respectively.

Google did not help me help him.

Is this true?

If so, does anyone know why?

Thanks!

The dealer has to call the State Police Special Licensing and Firearms Unit (SLFU) to get an authorization number for the sale. Those are probably the hours that SLFU closes.

This is exactly the case, it's nothing to do with NICS but the state of CT. It's 3pm on Sunday also which is why you see a lot of the gun stores close at 3pm on Sunday because they can't sell any big ticket items after 3pm.
