I assume the CA violence you reference is the Toys r Us shooting. And the Atlanta violence the mall shooting in the below link?

I'm mindful about my safety, and take steps to increase it, but wouldn't say I'm necessarily worried about it.

I'm not any more worried for my safety while shopping than whiledoing any other mundaneactivity.

However, while not worried, I am thoughtful of it as is holeinhead, and thus have made some preparations.

I understand what you mean SFCR, but I think the question means more like scared.

Again this is a situational awareness time. While in malls, parking lots etc. I am always scanning from close in to farther out. You can derive a lot on information/intel just observing people. A person who is bent on destruction will have a look about him/her. The eyes,,watch the eyes. Just me sayin it
‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.’’ Thomas Jefferson

Hmm, I'm not afraid for my safety. What's the point of being armed if you're still going to live in fear?

Safety is a tyrant's tool because no one can be against safety. Safety is the first act in security theater.

Why should I worry as long as I'm carrying a firearm to protect myself and others?

Unless "others" are your family, they should be carrying themselves.
    Why open carry? Because 1911 > 911.

You're right AbNo, but I was attempting a bit of subtle sarcasm. Guess it didn't work, huh.

Sarcasm doesn't get translated into digital form very well. :?

A 10 year old with a .45 can kill a professional boxer or a Navy Seal. Simple possession of a firearm doesn't guarantee safety.
Answer every question about open carry in Michigan you ever had with one convenient and free book- http://libertyisforeveryone.com/open-carry-resources/

The complete and utter truth can be challenged from every direction and it will always hold up. Accordingly there are few greater displays of illegitimacy than to attempt to impede free thought and communication.
