Adam that is the answer you got from a so-called indian law attorney? holy crap what a crappy answer.

All of the research I have done I have found nothing that would indicate that there is a federal issue with firearms in casinos. Just that Casino's themselves say no. Even letters, like the one above, from a tribal lawyer say that it is a casino policy and tribal law. There is not even the word firearm in the IGRC.

Apparently I was wrong about the liquor board.

I don't write 'em I only repeat 'em. I asked for an off the cuff answer and that is what I received. I didn't pay him for his answer and won't complain about an answer that I wasn't paying for.

No firearms in casinos, period.
This is the conclusion we come to every time we have this discussion.
Sorry for the ignorance but I don't think I was around for the other discussions, so the whole topic was new to me.
No you probably were not around but it is no big deal to round up the info again. This time I created PDF's of those two cases and posted them in the download at NWCDL.

This discussion is a great illustration of what a resource this forum is. Need to find out some point of law? Just post a question and you'll get it X100. There are so many folks here who know every topic from guns to laws to stores..... just ask.

Once again no definative results. The simple solution is to give back manhatten
to the indians, move all casinos there. Then is is carved in stone 'No Guns'.:X

Maybe this is the logic of NYC, since indians ban guns, and this was indian land
then guns must be banned.

Maybe start off small and OC a tommyhawk to test the waters. :dude:

Myself, I like Vegas casinos better, guesss it is the $5 min crap tables at
the indian ones. Waiting for the dice to warm up gets very expensive that way.
OC in them never, to crowded, confined, and noisy for situational awareness.
Maybe on christmas when they are empty. Halloween might be a good attempt,
dress as a cowboy with your six shooter. "I swear the duke always chases
down the bad guys with his glock"

Last bit of a wrench not covered yet..... non-tribal indians?

Not covered as far as what? Whether their non-tribe has criminal authority over them if they live on another tribes land? the answer to that question depends on if the two tribes have pacts that recognize each other and their members.

Great discussion -- the tribal land question has always been a grey area for me. I have a friend that works for the Nez Perce tribe, and even he is not allowed to carry on tribal land.

Here's an interesting tidbit: I attended a training in Airway Heights (outside Spokane) that was held at the casino. Most of the audience were LEOs, and they specifically announced that firearms were not allowed on the gaming floor -- period. Apparently only those specifically authorized. They even asked that guns be concealed unless officers were in uniform.

That is exactly the way it goes for the most part. If you want to comply fully and be within the rules of a tribe you can usually ask for the tribal chiefs permission. The tulalip tribal chief will, and has in the past, sign the back of a CPL so his tribal officer's know that you have permission. He used to be the chief for Mountlake Terrace and is a very decent guy.

The Police Chief of the Makah reservation ( Neah Bay) wants a copy of your CPL & Drivers license and you are good to go. This was the concept I came up with after discussing it with the Chief Judge Meyers & Police Chief White back in April of this year.

FYI to everyone. Clearwater Casino has a zero weapon policy in effect, this in includes simple clip on pocket knifes. In the case of clearwater they are there own sovereign nation and can pretty much make up what ever rules they want. I warn all of you beacuse this policy is not well marked and they have a confusing RCW listed that could be understood a few diffrent ways. I reenforce the fact ZERO weapons. If you walk into the casino with a simple knife you will have to take it to the car. I am working on getting this better marked and the RCW fixed.
