Left-Handed Wife wants a .17HMR rifle

Recently I purchased a 2" Taurus 941 .22 Mag revolver for the Mrs. to shoot at the Gun Range while I shoot my .45. Not two weeks later she says that she wants a rimfire rifle.

Here's the catch, she's a lefty and doesn't like levers. By my logic it wouldn't be a good idea to get her a semi-auto since the shells and hot gas will be coming towards her face. So my thought was to either get her a left-handed bolt or possibly a single-shot crack-open.

After some research, I've narrowed it down to the following rifles as a possibility and I was wondering if any of you out there own or have shot these rifles.

H&R Sportster .17HMR: http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/Rifles/sportster.asp
Rossi R17S .17HMR http://www.rossiusa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=2

Savage 93 R17GLV Left-Handed .17HMR http://www.savagearms.com/93r17glv.htm
CZ 452 .17HMR Left-Handed: http://www.czusa.com/product_detail.php?id=1

Thanks!!

It's not bad, feels like a sold gun quality wise. My only complaint is that I had to adjust the rear sight a little bit more than I felt I should have had to in order to get it shoot right. It was quite a bit louder than I expected. Its a fun alternative to shooting my 1911.

My husband and some others in our circle are lefties, and they just shoot right handed for the most part. Most lefties are more ambidexterous than we left-challenged.

Shells in the face couldn't be fun!

If she can't shoot righty, you made some good choices. That's cool of you to research it for her. :)

As a lefty I have only had one gun ever throw anything in my face and it was a Savage 87B.

I can tell you this: the Savage with a cheap scope and 20 grain match ammo can take prairie dogs out to 300-325 yards.

The guy I know who does this said he paid $160 for the whole setup (on sale).

I'm a lefty and have never had a problem of shells in the face from semi auto's or pump guns.............or maybe just never noticed.........lol

Single shot break tops can get you though, just tip it to the side a bit to avoid the ejection
