Im on a mustang forum and a guy in the military who is 20 wants to know if there is a way to get a permit now? If not can he get a non resident permit from another state that is good for TN or will that not work because he is a resident of TN? Here in GA military gets to carry just like a policeman with the only off limits places including school and voting booths from what ive read.

He can not get a TN permit until he is 21.

AFAIK if he got a non-resident permit from another state TN would recognize it though. There is nothing in TN code that restricts the age on recognizing out of state permits.

But depending on how close he is to 21 it may just be easier to wait.

Also just note, while TN law does make some exceptions for military personnel on carry in off-limits places, it is only while they are acting within their duties as member of military. So otherwise the same off-limits places would still apply to him like anyone else with a carry permit in TN.
