A Washington, D.C., man has been charged in a string of hotel robberies in Prince William and Stafford counties.

Prince William County police arrested Donald Lee Jackson, 47, of 2649 Stanton Road, Apt. 103, in Southeast Washington, D.C., after a police chase on Interstate 95 early Thanksgiving morning.

Around 5 a.m. on Thursday, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office notified Prince William County police about two hotel robberies in Stafford, Prince William police spokeswoman Officer Erika Hernandez said.

A lookout was broadcast for the robber, who matched the description of a robber of four hotels and a gas station in Prince William County in October and November, Hernandez said.

A Prince William County police officer spotted the a vehicle matching the description of the robber's vehicle driving north on Interstate 95, Hernandez said.

The officer tried to pull the car over for a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop, police said.

Prince William County and Virginia State police followed the car and stopped it by deflating the tires with stingers at the Prince William County/Fairfax County line .

The vehicle was a 1991 Chevy Blazer that had been reported stolen in Arlington County in October, police said.

Jackson was charged with speeding to elude police, driving under the influence. driving on a revoked license, grand larceny auto and five counts of robbery.

Jackson is accused of robbing the Holiday Inn Express at 14030 Telegraph Road on Oct. 19, the Comfort Inn at 16931 Old Stage Coach Road on Oct. 28, the Chevron Gas Station at 14496 Gideon Drive on Nov. 17, the Wythestone Suites at 14525 Gideon Drive on Nov. 17 and the Econolodge at 17005 Dumfries Road on Nov. 24.

In each of those robberies Jackson acted like a customer and then threatened employees with a knife and demanded money, Hernandez said at the time.

Jackson is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail pending a Jan. 12 court date.

The police investigation continues.
