In August, Winnipeg resident Tim McLean was killed on a Greyhound bus west of Portage la Prairie, Man. A fellow passenger, Vince Li, is charged with second-degree murder.
The first sentence above explains why the second sentence will happen again now.

Greyhound must have some real rocket scientists on their security team.

I don't think that Vincie had any of those items, did he?

wat

At least they're checking people before they get on. That generally assures that no one is armed. The problem with things like "gun free zones" is that 99% of the time, there's no screening of people so it's all on the honor system. Criminals don't usually follow that very well. Looks like bus travel defense will be back to the good ole' days of hand-to-hand.

If they went somewhere rural enough, it might be a juicy opportunity for a heist. Travelers tend to have money and valubles. Airplanes are hard for a third party to swing by and hi jack while they are in flight. Busses obviously are not.

Just wait for the bus load of victims to pull up at a rural bus stop, some of those stops are truly in the middle of nowhere. Who cares if the driver has a "hand-held security wand", he'll be the first to get robbed, or worse.

"Oh, Canada, we stand on guard for thee"... with security wands, apparently.

No, he had a knife.

I would be outraged if it wasn't so expected.

It's a moot issue in MO as no firearms are allowed on any bus in the state, be that bus public or private such as a tour bus or privately chartered bus, private vehicles owned and used for only private purposes excluded:

RSMo 578.300 (definitions)

(1) "Bus", any passenger bus or coach or other motor vehicle having a seating capacity of not less than fifteen passengers operated by a bus transportation company for the purpose of carrying passengers or cargo for hire, but not to include a bus or coach utilized exclusively to transport children to and from schools;

RSMo 578.305
4. Any passenger who boards a bus with a dangerous or deadly weapon or other means capable of inflicting serious bodily injury concealed upon his person or effects is guilty of the felony of "possession and concealment of a dangerous or deadly weapon" upon a bus. Possession and concealment of a dangerous and deadly weapon by a passenger upon a bus shall be a class C felony. The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to duly elected or appointed law enforcement officers or commercial security personnel who are in possession of weapons used within the course and scope of their employment; nor shall the provisions of this subsection apply to persons who are in possession of weapons or other means of inflicting serious bodily injury with the consent of the owner of such bus, or his agent, or the lessee or bailee of such bus.

So if you are riding a tour bus and are legally carrying CC and are legal to CC in every state you are passing through, the minute you cross into MO you are a FELON. Also, if you say wanted to use public transportation to and from work in St. Louis, one of the most dangerous cities in the country, on the Metrolink trains you are ok, but if you need to take the Metrolink bus part of the way, you are going to have to be a victim or be a felon.
