Shadow, is that a .40 Tac? I'm looking at the SAME one for my wife, they're AWESOME! I love the match trigger and adjustable sights.
Also, You can sometimes find HK41s for sale on HKPRO.COM, I buy alot of gear off that forum. And, they do make G3 Kits you only need to have 10 US compliant parts with the host G3/HK91, it's really easy, even the sear counts as a US part if you go the full-auto route.
It'sa .45 ACP full size Tactical. I was kinda hoping to get one of the Mk 23 Mod 0's but I found out I could get the USP Tacplus a can for less than the cost of the Mk 23 alone and at the time I couldn't find a Mk 23 anywhere. (I found oneyesterday, but I love the USP Tac and I have 500+ rounds through it already.)
The USP Tactical (in .45 auto) is amazingly accurate. Even using cheap plinking ammo like the Remington UMC 230gr ball, I'm punching 2" 10-shot ragged hole groups (center to center)at 25 yardsstanding and I'm by no means an expert with the USP sights yet. Sometimes the UMC has a load that feels a bit lighter andthat widens my group up, but I haven't had one fail to print on the paper yet. When I shot some of my Speer GDHP (230 gr) defense ammoit was even more accurate with less flash and a much cleaner burn. I'm betting the pistol could print sub 1" groups at 25 yards from a ransom rest. (It's more accurate than I am capable of shooting it.) The recoil is amazingly controllable and I'm able to keep 10 shot groups in a 6" circle at 25 yards rapid fire. (Again, I'm sure others could shoot even better than I have been.)
I haven't shot any of the USP's in .40 S&W. I chose the.45 ACPto shoot 230 gr subsonic ammunition with a suppressor. If I was going to suppress a .40 S&W I'd have to shoot 180 to 200 gr projectiles with the same velocities the 230 gr .45 ACP delivers, so all I'm doing is sacrificing energy and terminal performance. The only gain would beone extra round in the magazine and a half of an inch trimmed off of the height of the pistol.
I'm sure the HK USP .40 Tacticalis superbly accurate, I just didn't choose that caliber.
If you're not going to suppress the pistol and you're chosing the Tactical because of the trigger and sights, you might want to look at a USP Expert instead. They have the same trigger and rear sight (the front blade is a bit shorter than the Tactical) and they cost a bit less. The one thing the USP Expert lacks is the O-ring barrel that the Tacticals and the Mk 23 Mod 0 have.
P.S. Thanks for the information about HK41's and G3's. It's something I plan to do someday when I have more time and money. (Hopefully they're still legal when I get around to it.)
