Too bad that educated people can use rationale for some things, and pure emotion for other things.

Peaceful protest is for tree huggers and religious nuts, But as usual people are going to sit on there collective ass's and talk a good game but no one is willing to put there money were there mouth is..... We as a civilization are doomed unless people start realizing whats really going on here.

Ok, this is going to have to be another forum where I feel I must have a little word with the members.
The so-called gun control wackos are not really after our "right to keep and bear arms", read the Amendment; "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed".
Did anybody but me notice that the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY place in our Constitution that mentions we are guaranteed a "free state"?
Wake up, they want to abolish the last bit of the freedom we have, it's not about guns, but they want the misinformed general populous to believe that we are safer without private ownership of weapons.
Hitler felt the same way.
Stalin felt the same way.
Chairman Mao felt the same way....
Do any of you really understand how important it is to keep every one of our freedoms intact?
Encourage your neighbors to vote against those in the government who even make passing mention of stepping on our freedom. Otherwise, we're well overdue for revolution.
Let them come after me, they'll get the firefight they fear most. I will not go down peacefully, it's my right as an American Citizen to protect myself and my family.
(stepping down from soap-box and walking away...)

Welcome to OCDO. Hope you stick around and spend more time on the forum. You'll find that you are preaching to the choir in many regards.

Thank you, sir, I believe we have come to an agreement on this particular subject.
Sorry if I came on a bit strong in my previous posting, but I have spent years studying the Constitution and its Amendments, and people who argue the "finer points" without knowing the content get me rather wound up. Ask somebody sometime what the 9th Amendment means to them... (it's OK to look it up if you don't know, most people don't).
Our Founding Fathers were absolutely clear on the subject matter they wrote about in their drafting of the Constitution, if you'll also notice, there is no mention whatsoever of rights being given to corporations, yet they have been given rights by being made "persons" under the care of the State. Sneaky bastards, eh? Those corporations, with their "special rights" are the root of most of our problems, the insurance and banking industries are all based upon corporate privilege and when they get in trouble, the government bails them out....every time, why? because they are part of the government by becoming "corporeal" with the government. That's where their special powers come from. Mr Madison and Mr Jefferson were very disgusted with the King's corporations and gave them no rights in our Constitution, but over the years, greedy politicians gave them everything they needed to take our rights from us, including our only means to stop them...firearms.
So, what are we. the People of this fine nation going to do about it? Probably nothing, due to laziness and poor education (which is also governmentally controlled, what a coincidence....) Plus, most of us are so dependent on the government to do things for us that we wouldn't know how to function. Think about that when you are waiting for your tax-return check. Wow! the IRS is going to give me a small part of my own money back after gaining interest on it for a year, aren't they generous? I can buy a new tv to watch a football game on instead of studying what my elected officials are trying to do to me. Smoke and mirrors, baby, that's the way they like it. You're too busy or too tired to care, and your favorite tv show is on anyway, maybe I'll check on them tomorrow, wait, tomorrow has that funny show I like, maybe the next day, and so on...:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Am I a long-winded bastard, or what? :quirky

I would join you in a peaceful protest if I thought it would accomplish anything. Phrases like "we should show them that we won't take it anymore!" are empty and hollow - how are we planning to stop them? They see us marching in the streets, like we have a thousand times before, and then they remember that Obama won anyway. They remember that most of their friends opposed us and got re-elected anyway. They see us marching, and they just don't care - the laws they and their predecessors passed have given them the power to ignore us.

The problem with any large free state is the tendency of a concerned minority to be vastly outnumbered by an unconcerned majority. Fear, uncertainty, and doubt are constantly spewed by politicians and the media, and many who believe them band together and spread more inaccurate information to others, until, in the end, we are the minority facing a land that no longer wants us if we choose to keep and bear arms.

Protests will do nothing. Fighting those who would take our rights away with bullets is not an option (unless they blatantly violate the Constitution in such a public way that there is no doubt that they have become traitors).

The only way we have even a hope of winning anything is to fight a public relations war, and I just don't see that happening. As for me, I'll keep the guns I have. If they ban assault weapons, I will buy bolt action hunting rifles. If they come to take my guns away illegally, at least one of us will die. I hold no hope of ever being accepted, and I hold no illusions that this will ever be anything but a losing battle and an uphill fight.

There enough people to do this in TriC?
Not on the OC forum specifically, but overall, yes. There are a lot of gun owners here. Everyone I've talked to is as angry as, well, the rest of America.

Peaceful protest is for tree huggers and religious nuts,
So propose another solution. I'm all ears.

I would join you in a peaceful protest if I thought it would accomplish anything.
I agree with everything you said. I propose protests because I know of no other way to deal with this. I am naive enough to believe it's possible to rally hundreds of thousands across the country to engage in regular, constant and unrelenting protests. If even 1 in 100 gun owners would agree to spend every Saturday afternoon working the streets, these a$$ clowns may shelve their agenda for another decade.

You're right - a few little protests will do nothing. Protests isolated to a couple of states will do nothing. Even a single large, nationwide protest will be forgotten in a few weeks' time. However, unrelenting protests will have the added advantage of attracting more and more activists and continued press coverage. Many people who normally would not partake in such activities will join after they see a continued presence. The movement could grow to unprecedented numbers in short order and make a large impact in D.C..

You want to fight a public relations war? I'm all for it. Form a non-profit, solicit contributions and take out divisive, strongly worded ads in conservative strongholds such as talk radio. God bless the NRA, but I don't see them rallying the general public against anything. They seem to lobby congresscritters quite well, but with these socialists in power I fear it's going to take more. The public needs to express their massive pent-up anger in a very public way before these idiots take us seriously.

I just hope every single one of us will be willing to stand us and fight to the death to protect out liberty. the time will come soon where we can not just sit around and discuss these issues. They will eventually roll right over us if we are not all willing to raise hell! That time will come at a different time for all of us, but we have to stand up and say "NO!!!!, You will not take my liberty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Please watch this video and think about it....
