Buying a pistol, selling a pistol

I've had my Ruger P89 for about ten years and while I've probably onlyput about 1000 rounds through it (and disassemble and clean it after every shoot), I have always enjoyed it.

With my CCW permit arriving soon, I'm thinking about selling the P89 (a bit big and heavy for OC andfor CC) and buying a Glock 19, just because the Glock is smaller and lighter, and better for both.

Pardon my ignorance but what is involved with selling a pistol in NC? I've never sold a gun of any type.

I know I can find out how it's normally done, myself, but I've found that enthusiast forums are usually the best place to find real-world answers from experienced people.

How do I "market" my P89?

Thanks.

You can sell it to any FFL dealer if they will take it, or to a private citizen.

If you sell it private party, the purchaser will need a Pistol purchase permit or a CHP.

You will make a copy the CHP or take thier Pistol Purchase Permit. I would also recommend writing some form of receipth that both of you sign and have copies of that includes all of the information on the weapon being transfered.

More info:

Any pawn shops that sell weapons can obviously buy yours, but you will probably not get fair market value for it.

You can list in on firearm forums for sale and use and FFL to transfer the firearm to them if they are in a different state or you need to ship the weapon.
