I may be traveling to NC in the future on business.
Due to the nature of my job, it would be to a municipally owned landfill.
I have a Virginia Resident CHP.
Here's what I've found so far, correct me if i'm wrong:
NC honors my VA res CHP.
NC has preemption of firearm laws for localities, so a landfill owned by the local government shouldn't be able to prohibit the carriage of firearms.
The localities seem to be able to prohibit the carriage of firearms in public buildings, however it seems that they can't stop you from keeping the firearm in your vehicle.
Here's what I have questions about:
It's unlawful to carry anywhere where "admission is charged." Although I won't be paying any admission, they generally charge trash trucks. I'm also curious about hotels. It seems to me that it really doesn't apply here, and I know it seems like an asinine question, but I'm just trying to make sure.
Duty to notify law enforcement. Couldn't find anything one way or another. And God bless North Carolina, but yall love your work zones and reduced speed limits, so it would be nice to know what the law is here.
I know it's not OC, but It's my first time carrying into NC and just gotta know!
Thanks!
