Travelling to NC

I may be traveling to NC in the future on business.

Due to the nature of my job, it would be to a municipally owned landfill.

I have a Virginia Resident CHP.

Here's what I've found so far, correct me if i'm wrong:

NC honors my VA res CHP.

NC has preemption of firearm laws for localities, so a landfill owned by the local government shouldn't be able to prohibit the carriage of firearms.

The localities seem to be able to prohibit the carriage of firearms in public buildings, however it seems that they can't stop you from keeping the firearm in your vehicle.

Here's what I have questions about:

It's unlawful to carry anywhere where "admission is charged." Although I won't be paying any admission, they generally charge trash trucks. I'm also curious about hotels. It seems to me that it really doesn't apply here, and I know it seems like an asinine question, but I'm just trying to make sure.

Duty to notify law enforcement. Couldn't find anything one way or another. And God bless North Carolina, but yall love your work zones and reduced speed limits, so it would be nice to know what the law is here.

I know it's not OC, but It's my first time carrying into NC and just gotta know!

Thanks!

Cities and Counties can ban the carry of weapons (open or concealed) on city or county property. IF they ban concealed, it must be posted. Also, if they ban concealed, they cannot prevent you from having it in your vehicle (or carrying it while in your vehicle), so yes, they could ban carry at the local landfill, (i.e. do not carry if and when you get out of your vehicle.)

They are not chargin you for admission, they are charging a fee for dumping - therefore the no carry where admission is paid does not apply.

NC law REQUIRES notification of LEO IMMEDIATELY. The law says you must notify LEO when first approached or addressed by the LEO that you are a permit holder and armed. HOWEVER, it is advised to notify that you have a permit regardless of whether you are actually carrying, i.e. "Sir, pelase be advised that I have a concealed carry permit and I am (or am not) armed right now"

HOpe this helps.

IF you (or anyone else) woudl like cites, I can provide but don't have them handy right now
