I have a RIA 1911 and a Sig P220. IMHO, they are both fine .45ACP handguns, thus I cannot choose one over the other.

Unless money is a severe problem, I would suggest that you keep the 1911 and look for an older W. German made Sig P220 from the mid 90's, with a serial # above 219,166. (Beefed up frame, improved hammer rebound and stronger green colored recoil spring)

Price range is around $500 for a mid 90's W. German P220 with Kiel proof mark on frame. Carefully inspect P220 magazines for cracks around the lip area. New Sig P220 magazines are about $40. I use Novaks 8 round magazines -- $17-20 each. P220 will take a 10 round magazine, too.
