If you havn't already made plans to attend, it's time to start making those arrangements. You must know that your rights to own guns are under attack, now more than ever. The Congress in house now have already began submitting legislations that threaten your rights, The gun-control, gun-ban crowd is excited and elated with the knowledge that they now have a Congress and a president that is sympathetic to their cause of dis-arming the American people.

This is NOT mere rhetoric, this is not speculation - this is fact. Cold, hard, scary fact. They intend to disarm you and all like you.

Our era of apathy and complacency is over. Now is the short span of time in which we have the opportunity to preserve for future generations the joy of living in a free America. When the now socialist government succeeds in disarming the people by removing the Right to Bear Arms, all other Constitutional Rights will fall like dominos.

Dre, you know you are not allowed to carry at an assebly or parade. This is important though. We need to do more than just talk to each other online. Carry a big F'ing knife on you for a while, I'll do the same and we'll watch each other's backs. This is a chance for us to protect our rights for our kids and our country.

The only assemblies I'm not allowed to carry at are ones where an entryadmission is charged. As far as parades go, is this event going to block traffic and be a parade according to the city? I doubt it.

What if I am OCing, and randomly come across this gathering.

It isn't a parade, so I don't know why I can't carry.

I am not paying admission, so I don't know why I can't carry.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person participating in, affiliated with, or present as a spectator at any parade, funeral procession, picket line, or demonstration upon any private health care facility or upon any public place owned or under the control of the State or any of its political subdivisions to willfully or intentionally possess or have immediate access to any dangerous weapon. Violation of this subsection shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor. It shall be presumed that any rifle or gun carried on a rack in a pickup truck at a holiday parade or in a funeral procession does not violate the terms of this act.



I would recommend no knives either... NC law is so screwed up.

with all due respect kdcyyz, you have misread this law. The provisions of this statute do not prevent the carry of a firearm at ANY demonstration, but only at any

"demonstration upon any private health care facility" - This was enacted as a result of several violent anti-aboprtion protests

The only reason why we would be told not to carry, is if there is a permit required to assemble in that area, and someone signed saying it would be so.

And there are all sorts of problems with that.

This is not to argue the finer points of the law but to point out how the law applies to the topic as constituted. I looked at the satelite map of the proposed gathering place and it looks to methat it is to be held on the patio adjacent to the ends and in the courtyard between the Museum of Natural History and the State History museum buildings. I'm pretty sure that that block is owned byand under the control of the state. The next two phrases of the paragraph proscribe possession under these conditions as well.

I have not doubt that your are correct - but my comment was aimed at whether we could carry there, but wherether there was a ban on carrying at any demostration as claimed by kdcyyz

I admit that my assumption as to the legality of carrying in a demonstration stems from the carry restriction enforced during parades. I would assume that, given the nature of a demonstration like this, the difference between it and a parade is negligible.

I never claimed "a ban on carrying at any demonstration".

I copied/pasted the statute,bold fontedsome parts that might apply this situation, recommended no knives either due to the close proximity to some State controlled property, and stated that "NC law is so screwed up".

Anyhow, I will be there, and I hope to see everyone else there as well.

Everyone - I'm wondering if this should bepostponed for the time being.Former state Insurance Commissioner Jim Long'svisitation will be during this time.I seriously doubt legislators, or media for that fact, will be there.
