I have not seen this issue addressed here yet.
Are there any laws prohibiting the Unloaded Open Carry of firearms on public transportation?

I'd bet some localities have ordinances against it, but state law preempts. (Wouldn't stop the DA or city attorney from filing charges, but would make it fairly easy to beat.)

The biggest concern with public transit is 626.9. I bet most bus routes pass through several school zones. I'm not sure the prosecution could prove 'reasonable knowledge' when you're in the back of the bus reading the newspaper, but I wouldn't want to be that test case. Technically, the bus driver would be the one causing the firearm to enter the school zone, so maybe (s)he would be the one in trouble...

Carry in a locked bag and you will be just fine.
