I had the unfortunate experience of having a handgun stolen from my vehicle. When testifying at the initial hearing re:the individual's possession of this weapon, I was told that once the case had been settled, I could file to regain possession.

There was never any notification from the court of the final disposition, attempt at contacting the asst. DA and arresting officer involvedto obtain thesefacts have failed; I really don't expect the firearm to be in serviceable shape at this point.

What I would like to get is the weapon itself, in whatever condition, or a statement of it's destruction, to keep myself covered.

Has anyone out there (Allegheny County) gone through this, who can they detail the procedure for me in regard to forms, offices, people, and related bureaucracy to deal with?

Please - don't simply refer me to the county - that's where I start the cycle. I'm looking for someone who has gone through the process.

Thanks

You need to engage the services of an attorney.
