Not only that, and not to be morbid, she is a human being and all.... but I would much rather her live out 4 more years, than give Obama the chance to appoint a healthy young liberal that will last for decades.

It's sad to frame it that way, but we all know that essential liberties are literally at stake here.

I'll be happy with 2 more years. Let the blue dog dems and the libertarian repubs take a commanding lead in the Senate and force, at the very least, a gun neutral justice. Sure, i would love a Roberts or Alito but we'll NEVER get that from Obama and if we have to get someone let it be another Anthony Kennedy. But if Ginsberg bows out before the mid term elections that will be a setback.

I agree with that sentiment, but as far as I'm concerned she wasn't much more than a bolshevik anyway. We won't be losing any conservatives until the (holding back vomit) messiah gets out in (hopefully) 2013 or later. As far as I know, it's only the hard left members of the court that are looking at retirement.

I think oboomer's star is already fading, and that he'll wish for carter's worst day before the conservative landslide in 4 years.

I'll bet that she'll be dead by then or at least out of the court. Despite the spin coming out of the court, the cancer she has is nearly 97% fatal within 2 years. They say that they detected it early and that improves her chances. The problem is they said it was detected from a routine exam, a Cat scan. Cat scans are not routine. They were looking for something. It's all about spin.

I'm no Prophet, but she's had cancer once before and this is more serious. She is getting older which means she is going to die of something, and this is probably that something.

Replacing Ginsberg with a raging leftist is different in much the same way that getting gonorrhea is different than getting syphilis. The hazard of replacing Ginsberg with an Obama socialist/fascist/commie pick is that his pick will certainly be much younger and likely even left of Ginsberg which will put them somewhere on the other side of Chairman Mao. I wish Ginsberg a healthy next several years.

As to finding this with a CT scan in a supposed routine exam, I have read before that congress critters, senior administration and SCOTUS get much more detailed and comprehensive "routine exams" and care than most people including CT and MRI scans for symptoms that we regular citizens with more typical/standard health care would never receive and wouldn't be covered by insurance if we did. I don't have a cite to reference to and being that I do not recall my source for that info, I can't claim it to be 100% reliable. So I'll just leave it as it actually MIGHT have been routine as claimed.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is about as hard-left as you can get and still be appointable to any bench, unless Obama digs deep and gets some looney leftie out of the Maryland District Court for Takoma Park, Md. There are other Leftists enclaves in this country, but Takoma Park overall takes the fruitcake.

Whatever crazy-ass judicial appointments he makes, Obama will with these appointments (I STILL can't believe the roster of nuts and criminals he has so far put up) sooner or later trigger a groundswell of popular revulsion. But frankly his judicial prospects do not worry me one tenth as much as the fact that the enemy we are fighting percieves him - correctly - as a weak President. I don't rule out an attack on the homeland but I think it unlikely as they saw what happened the last time - George W Bush is the one reason there wasn't an anti-Moslem Kristallnacht in America- but they may think they can get away with say attacking Israel or something.

Just two weeks in and he is doing his damndest to bankrupt the whole nation. A lefty-loony Justice with a fatal disease is the LEAST of our problems, folks.

You do make some valid points, but I think Eric J. Holder would be far worse than Ruth Bader-Ginsburg is as a SCOTUS judge, especially considering his age and therefore his length ofservice. (SCOTUS Justices area lifetime appointment.)

If Obama is unable to win a re-election 4 years from now and a far less socialistic president is elected, a young justice with more favorable views might be able to replace the aging Bader-Ginsburg. However, if Obama is able to appoint a justice, you can bet it will be a young one who is equally socialistic (or moreso) than Ginsburg is.

That be what passes for 'routine' for her since she had a previous case of cancer.

People that have had cancer are at increased risk for it again.

If she had cancer before (I wasn't aware of that) it greatly increases the likelihood that it really was a routine exam. I am a cancer survivor (to use the cliche') and I still have to go in for regular blood work, x-rays and CT scans for several more years.
