You know, the 68w(combat medic) school is right down the road from my training company, and if you would like, I can get one of them to answer your questions about that particular MOS.

Isn't Kevin/Sgt. Jensen in Iraq? At least that was what I thought.

Yes I am. I guess he thinks that if we are both in the Army, we could see each other more often. Nothing could be further from the truth! I am surrounded by strangers! :uhoh:

sure! medic is a great thing to be. i heard that the medics can get a hospital job pretty easily after their service in the military.

and i was kinda hoping that if i was shipped out, i would get to see kevin, but the chances of me even being within 100 MILES ofhim would probably be around 1 in 1000 lol

would be pretty awesome if we did bump into each other! i have a feeling that my bro and i would get sent to afghanistan though... unless KY gets enough problems of their own to deal with!

what are some good MOS's, like with an average asvab score? i heard truck drivers are always in demand... im just thinkin of a backup plan incase i cant make medic or MP

Do not become an MP! You will hate your life! It has nothing to do with what you might be thinking of.

You should check out the "High school to flight school" program. You could fit into the cockpit of a helicopter pretty nicely! I believe Tucker(rocknsnow) is in flight school as we speak.

+1

California has its problems alright, but it really doesn't live up to all the (negative) hype.

11B and go to Georgia.

I have been considering enlisting in the regular Army, or perhaps the USMC....I would want to be an infantryman though and maybe go to airborne or air assault school.

If you want to guarantee a slot in Airborne school, then you could go 92R, which is a parachute rigger, and airborne school is a prerequisite.

If you want to go airborne, then the marines will be the hardest route. Airborne for Marines is reserved for Marine force recon. So you would need to be in real good shape.

Truck driver, which is 88M has one of the highest fatality rates in the military currently. You would be doing convoys and risking roadside bombs a lot. They train at Ft. Leonard Wood.

11B does a lot of ruck marches. You ruck everywhere. Ft Benning.

68W, (combat medic) can go M6, which is a licensed practitional nurse is a good MOS.
But you must pass W school, then go to M6 school, and if you don't pass M6, you're stuck as a W. You would train at FT. Sam, in the 232 med bn, then at C 264.

If you like computers then 25B would be a good one. That's computer intel. You would train at FT. Gordon, which tends to be a good training post.

68E is a Dental specialist, and they train at 187 med bn.

Any of that help?

just took the practive ASVAB on military.com (had to register and stuff so a recruiter is gonna call for me to ask ?'s about the nat guard) and heres what i scored in the categories...

Gen. science: 44%

Arithmatic reasoning: 63.3%

Word knowledge: 80%

Paragraph comprehension: 86.7%

Auto & shop info: 56%

Mathematics knowledge: 44%

Mechanical comprehension: 48%

Electronics info: 35%

any idea what job id be best at or if i would even PASS the asvab? i heard that you have to score 50 minimum for national guard... but then i heard it was 35, 31, all kinds of answers... 31 for army, 35 for navy, etc. you'd think that natl guard and army requirements would be the same

The minimum score requirements for Army is a 31. You have obviously done better than that.

There is no difference between Army and Army National Guard.

Marines require a 32, Navy a 35, Air force a 36, and Coast Guard a 36.

I gotta say though, at the moment, unless you get a non-deployable MOS, pretty much any job will get you deployed. Unfortunately. The real question is where would you get deployed.

If you took a medical job, you may be in either a combat support hospital, which would get deployed to any area of operations, such as Iraq or Afganistan.

But others might get you deployed to countries outside of the fighting zones. And that would be preferable to most people.
