Has anyone ever OC or CC a knife to the Verizon Center for a Caps game? The web site doesn't specify if anything's forbidden, just that you may be checked with a metal detector. And my experience with asking questions like this on the phone is that they say "no" by default, no matter what the real policy is.

I've always left it behind, but I'd rather not.

It's a pocket knife and the blade's about 3.25" long.

According to that website 3" Folding knifes are ok for OC or CC.

Thanks, but I'm not asking about D.C. knife laws. I'm asking about the Verizon Center.

See "Other defensive devices" topic for a discussion of D.C. weapons laws:

IANAL: The 3" limitation does not apply to law abiding citizens.

Here's what their web site says... there's no clear policy:
    http://www.verizoncenter.com/news/security.shtml
"Patrons will be subject to search and possible hand held metal detectors."

It probably depends on the event. A CC knife is probably fine if it's in your pocket for a game or monster truck rally. Last night there were no problems for me at the Caps game. I think the security staff at the door's number one priority is to keep food and beverages out of the facility.

I'd just carry a cheap knife that I wouldn't mind throwing in the garbage if they wouldn't let me in with it. Unless the tickets were really cheap, then I'd throw them in the garbage.
