The CCW application for Douglas County requires a notary seal and signature prior to submission... (per Sheriff's website)
"Prior to arriving at the Sheriff’s Office the applicant must sign the completed permit application in person, before a notary public; upon a sworn oath that the applicant knows the contents of the permit application and that the information contained in the permit application is true and correct."
However the application itself leaves no room for a notary seal or signature, nor for any evidence of a "sworn oath"...
NOTE TO RECIPIENT: A PHOTOCOPY REPRODUCTION OF THIS SIGNED REQUEST SHALL BE FOR ALL INTENTS AND
PURPOSES AS VALID AS THE ORIGINAL. YOU MAY RETAIN THIS FORM IN YOUR FILES. THE ORIGINAL OF THIS FORM WILL
REMAIN IN THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONCEALED WEAPONS FILES.
Applicant’s Signature _________________________________ Subscribed and sworn before me this _____day of ________, ______.
Sheriff's Designee _______________________________________________
Form Revised 4/2/2008
end of page.....
What have others done in this case or am I reading too much into it?
I'm going to the Sheriff tomorrow with my wife to apply so timely responses are appreciated. I'd hate to drive to Castle Rock and find out I need some secret document.
