When you got your 1st handgun, did ANYONE ask you the big "WHY", why you have or carry a gun, why do youneed one:question:. If some one did, what did you tell them? And if no oneever didI'm asking you now! WHY DO YOU HAVE OR CARRY A GUN!? Let every one out there know why, let every one hear your voice and let them hear what you think......

WHY IHAVE or CARRY A GUN:exclaim:Because itsMy2nd Amendment Right To Bear Arms, and to Protect MySelf,ThyFamily, ThyNeighbor, And ThyLove One's. I can not carry a cop on my back, i can not avoid danger, when there is no other by my side, I will have my .45, Because I'm not ready for anyone to DIE:cry:

By Me: Brandon S. Morris

P.S---I don't have a .45 it just sounds better then .380

1. Police have no legal duty to protect individuals.
2. Police have no legal liability when they don't protect individuals.
3. Police almost never have the physical ability to protect individuals not in their custody or having a personal protective detail.

Protect yourself or don't get protected at all.

The same reason I have a fire extinguisher. Can't always rely on the authorities to save your behind when you need it stopped NOW.

When asked why I need/own/carry a gun I've had a lot of fun with this that I borrowed from someone else:

I hunch my shoulders and look around furtively like someone being hunted and say "It's the voices."

These people are a pain so we might as well have some fun.

Originally, for when I go motorcycle riding. A lot of bikers carry because other drivers can sometimes be very aggressive and dangerous. If they're willing to go so far as to intentionally drive a motorcycle rider off the road, how much further will they go especially when you're out in the middle of nowhere...just you and your cycle?

After I got my first handgun, I realized I didn't want to protect myself only when riding and I didn't want to protect just myself. From there I started researching conceal carry and found open carry. I do both.

A very liberal family friend got into a huff at one point because I was working on my motorcycle in the garage when his wife and kid dropped by to talk to my wife. She said something to me, so I stepped out to talk. I had the audacity to be open carrying. They don't own or discuss guns and prefer to keep their kids in the dark. He tried to embarrass me about it at a poker game a few nights later by making me look like a gun nut. One of the other guys asked, why do you carry?

My response: Because if anything were ever to happen to my wife or kids while I was around and I had made the choice not to carry, I would never be able to live with myself. The knowledge that I'm an excellent shot, have the training, but simply chose not to carry meant I wasn't able to defend them from some thug...I couldn't live with it. I would rather die knowing I did my best to protect them than live knowing I could've protected them, but chose not to be prepared.

At that point, the other guys all agreed, but got defensive about how they don't carry, but keep for home protection. I said: I don't fault anyone for not carrying. It's a choice every person has to make on their own and decide what is right for them. My choice is to carry.

He didn't like how the conversation turned out and said his kids probably won't be playing with mine anymore. I said: That's your decision to make. I've already made my decision.

He's never brought it up again. :)

because itreminds the government to be aware that the citizens really should and do run the country..and we will not stand by and not let the sheep tell us what and how we will or may keep the life granted to use and our loved ones..if people are not comfortable with us not just protecting our rights but ourvery lives that we were granted by whatever higher power you belive in..then all i see is victoms to their own blindness and ignorence...because i like the idea that i have say in if my life will bea statistic or a success..GOD Bless America!!!!

and napalm is not just the answer to every conflict...

This is why I have a gun

[align=left]"No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion."
James Burgh (1714-1775) was an English Whig politician

I like to cite any number of incidents where no one should be expected to NEED a gun (McDonald's, ChuckeeCheez, Columbine school, the mall, some kid's birthday party, etc. etc.) and then turn the question back to the poser: WHY DON'T YOU? I carry because in those precious seconds when a gun is needed, the police are likely to be a mere phone call and a few MINUTES away. I also like to keep things like fire extinguishers handy because, although we have an excellent volunteer fire department in my community, I feel it is my responsibility to mitigate damages as much as possible until they can respond.

I actually found myself doing this, even among the older shooters at the Metro Pistol League:

We were finishing up, and my team was in charge of cleaning up the range that night and I was walking with one of the guys out to the parking lot to put something away when he jokingly remarked that he had an "armed escort." To which I responded, "why, don't you carry?" It was automatic, without thought or hesitation; it felt completely natural to be asking this question...when just a few years ago I was on the other side, nervously laughing at the thought of self-defense and questioning why anyone would need a gun.

Not that he needed an explanation of why I was carrying--I'm pretty certain that he's either retired military or law enforcement (most of the old guys at the MPL are).

No one's really questioned it other than my own family, but I have the choice retorts ready to go if I ever need them: "Why do you need..." + "...to wear seat belts?" or "...insurance?"

ALL PROPER PURPOSES.

It's something I picked up from the New Hampshire Pistol/Revolver License application instructions.
Also a good reason. It says it right on the back of the application! :D

On Dec.27.2008 I was robbed at gunpoint in Chesapeake VA near Crestwood Middle School it was between 1:30am and 3:00am leaving a little get together one of my friends were having.Upon making our (Me and my cosin) way to the car we were approached by 3 males.Asking us random questions, were we in a gang? where we from and so on I told my cousin lets go and we went to the car one of the guys knew who my cousins best friend was so he asked for his numer. The guy replied "Naw,**** that homeboy give up the money." As he pulled a sawed off shotgun and jammed it into my cousins side. One of the other two guys had put some pistol to my head. They demanded money and we gave them a few bucks but the third guy exclaimed "they got mo money than that." And got us for about $500 bucks. They were going to take my cousins car but they didnt bother.
I called the Police to get a bullet proof vest because, my life was in danger. But they said I had no point plus I wouldnt give any names which I didnt know and also didnt tell them exactly what happened I didnt want to start a investagation of any type I just wanted Karma to get them. But upon being looked at stupid by NPD I decided I was going to get a gift from my father.
It was a sign because, when I went into Bobs to pick out the perfect gift I saw one of my friends who was at the house that night I got robbed and he stated."Joey that woke me up man, these young kids out here making it harder for us to be looked upon and accpeted it opened my eyes bro."My father was beside me when I was talkin to my friend and that really sealed the deal for him to sign the papers for my gift.
I also feel edgy about the coming times of America and everything great must fall so I may get more, alot more.
BUT I CARRY BECAUSE, ITS THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO SERVE MY OWN JUSTICE IN A RIGHTFUL MANNER AND SPEEDY PROCESS.

I got my gun because I enjoy the shooting targets. That was the main reason I bought one, to shoot paper. That said after my first kid was born I started to think of the protection aspec of the firearm.
