With my negative experience at Waffle House a few weeks ago aside, I did have a good experience to report at IHOP on thursday night in Nashville at Bell & I-24. I was eating there about 2am and as I was leaving there were about 7 or 8 cops waiting to be seated. I passed by the register and one of them asked if I had a permit and I showed it to him. He said "thank you sir and have a good morning". As alot of HCP holders do as well I'm sure, I was wondering how my first confrontation with a cop would go down. I'm glad to say it was a good experience. It also serves to give you a little more confidence in the system, because then you see firsthand that the cops know very well it is our right to carry any way we want so long as we are legal.

In my limited experience with the MNPD (maybe less limited that others as I work security), most Nashville cops do have a relatively firm grasp of the gun laws and know that you can carry anyway you wish as long as you have the HCP.

I'm thinking of duct taping my holster to my forehead sometime (maybe after I shave my head).

Sounds like what you had was an "engagment", not a confrontation.
