Can I shoot nuisance animals?

Now obviously where it's safe and legal to do so...Can I shoot squirrels and coyotes? Is there any season on them? Permit required?

I'm not from Connecticut, but have lived in more than a few states. In all of them, this activity was regulated by state wildlife departments. I recommend you go to a sporting goods store and pick up a hunting regulations pamphlet. That "should" answer your question. If not, a quick call to your states wildlife department local office will answer it for you.

Absolutely what he said. Go to any sporting store and pick up the DEP hunting and fishing comic book, it lists most of the relative laws/rules and bag limits, permit costs and types.

Better to be safe than locked up, the DEP cops have more power to search without warrants etc than real cops.

Why shoot coyotes? something needs to keep the poodle numbers down. (joke by the way).

I used to work with a guy who had a squirrel problem. He was trapping them and releasing them in the woods behind our workplace, about 5 miles from his house. He started to recognize a few with distinguishable features coming back. To test if he was crazy or not, he started spraypainting tails before he released them. Sure enough they were making their way 5 miles back to his house to raid his bird feeders. Smart little bastards.

My grandfather used to trap them and then put them in a wood box and attach a hose to the tail pipe on his car. As the cars got newer and the government intervened more the squirrels wouldn't die. He started spraying painting a blue spot on them and would release them a few miles away. I never saw the squirrels come back but I thought for sure I would read about DEP doing a study on blue spotted squirrels.
