I just got an e-mail from the NRA mentioning this.

"
On Thursday, March 19, two important pro-gun bills, House Bill 269 and House Bill 270 will be heard in the House Judiciary III Committee. We are encouraging all those who are able to attend, to come out and show their support. The committee is scheduled to meet at 10am in room 1425 LB.

HB 269, introduced by Representatives Mark Hilton (R-96), Justin Burr (R-67), George Cleveland (R-3), and Jim Gulley (R-103), would allow those with concealed handgun permits to carry their firearms in state parks.

HB 270, introduced by State Representatives Mark Hilton (R-96), Fred Steen (R-76), Justin Burr (R-67), and George Cleveland (R-14), would eliminate the prohibition on Right-to-Carry permit holders carrying their lawfully concealed firearms into a restaurant that serves alcohol.

If you are unable to attend, please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee III listed below and respectfully urge them to support both HB 269 and HB 270.[/b]

Emails sent. But we need to call these committee members too, people! Calls make a much bigger difference than emails. Let's get on the horn.

Also on date night I liked taking my sweetheart out to places like Applebees

however because they serve alcohol we could not go there being CCW supporters.

I got two emails back. One was potentially unsupportive, not much info just thanking me for contacting them, but David Lewis said he was for both of them.

Got the same email from David Lewis.
Thank you for writing regarding House Bill 269 and House Bill 270.

Please know that I support both of these Bills.

I am aware of no cases in which a person authorized to carry a concealed fire arm has discharged that weapon in committing a crime.

I will support both of these Bills.

Again, thank you for writing.

David

"Opponents said driving-while-impaired laws show people still drink when they shouldn't, and mixing gun rights with alcohol sales is a bad idea.":banghead:

If they are going to drink while carrying, they already are. What is it that people don't get get about things like this.

Unfortunately, bills in NC go into committee to die. :?

It's like winning the lottery. You have to play in order to be able to have a chance to win.

Call your reps if this is important to you. If you don't, how can you complain if the outcome is not what you like it to be??
