[font="PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif"]Dear Mr. nova,

Thank you for your email—participation from citizens like
yourself is an integral part of the legislative process and I appreciate
your
taking the time to contact me.

During this legislative session, many gun issues were
brought to the floor of the House of Delegates. I am proud of having
supported
bills protecting the 2
nd
Amendment rights including SB 1035.

However, during session in the House of Delegates, I voted
against House Bill 1851, Senate Bill 1528, and House Bill 2528 and plan on
upholding the Governors veto.

I understand your concerns about Governor Kaine’s veto on
Senate Bill 1035. Before I make a decision about how to vote, I want to
hear the
reasoning behind vetoing this bill. I believe that a law abiding citizen
who
has a permit to carry a concealed weapon is better off having that weapon
on
their person than leaving it in their car, where it could be forgotten or
stolen. I will be back in contact after the House reconvenes on April 8
th
.

Thank you so much for your correspondence and I hope to see
you in the District now that I returned from session.

Sincerely,

Delegate Dave Marsden

Although I'm disappointed with his decision to vote against a few bills, I am pleased that he understands why the restaurant ban needs repealed. I've contacted my delegate a few times in the past and while he sometimes goes against some pro-gun bills, he supports lawful carrying and even suggested I get a VA CHP in the future.

Here's the one that I got:

Mr. DBC3804,

Thank you very much for your email regarding Governor Kaine's vetoes of pro-2nd Amendment legislation. Like yourself, Delegate Janis supports all 4 of these pieces of legislation and voted in favor of their passage during the session. He will be voting to override the Governor's vetoes of these important pieces of legislation.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office if there is anything Delegate Janis may do to be of service to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Cristen R. Vehorn

Legislative Director

Delegate Bill Janis

This is really interesting... he supports SB1035... but not the other bills?

Interesting position, lol. :?
The others are veto-proof, aren't they? So this is a political move, I expect.

At least someone got a response back from their Delegate. My Delegate, Watkins Abbot, didn't even bother to send a reply.

It's my guess that some Senators and Delegates do not even read their e-mail. They chose to run for their own convictions, not for what you or I want. It's all a power grab.

We've seen it all before, tell people what they want to hear to get into office. Once you are in office shrug off everything you said you stood for during the campaign and take a big steamy dump all over your state and federal constitution.

Now mind you that this isn't all of them, but there are enough to stop anything they don't like.
