This seems to be a spotty/localized problem with Wally World. Would be nice if they'd spell it out in their operations manual - but I'd never push for that.

Best IMO to handle it one store/manager at a time.

I just got off the phone with Rob the store manager for the Hampton Walmart. He gave me the run around. Said he is on the NRA side of the argument, but Walmart has the right to refuse service to anybody. And that he gets nervous when a customer walks into the store armed, and that I need to try and understand the liability that Walmart could face if somebody bought some ammo from them and was wearing a weapon and shot a clerk. He said he could not show me the "policy", because Walmart tries to side step the "issue" with 2A rights and those oppossed to them.

Basically this issue is unresolved andI feel like I just got myrear orfice filled with smoke. Though he welcomes me back to his store anytime to shop.:quirky

My only concern with these sorts of confrontations is that Wal-Mart may eventually take care of the issue by banning guns in all of their stores. It's a delicate balance to walk for sure.

It's doubtful Wal-Mart would do that. They're based in the South and I'd venture to say a majority of their largest and most lucrative stores are in the South. Going anti-gun/anti-carry would anger a good portion of their customers, especially if groups like ours made it a public issue.

Talked with one of the guys on the night crew at the Hampton Walmart and he said Olga moved herefrom Colorodo and the city ordinance where she used to live required ammo and firearms sales to be escorted to the purchasers vehicle. He also mentioned that if the person described at the ammo counter is who he thinks it was thathe afraid of his own shadow.

Next time you get confronted by her, make your ammo purchase first and then get her to escort you throughout out the store as you get your groceries too. Maybe she will push the cart too. :)

Yep. Here in the South, roughly 78% of the homes have at least one gun housed within. Compare that to the Northeast where the percentage is approximately 22%.

The means we wield a fair amount of influence if we can just get the word out to other owners in mass.

I OC'd to this walmart this morning to attempt to buy some 9mm. I didn't see the sign this time saying they wont sell to you if you're carrying. They were out of 9mm, so I didn't find out if they would have sold it to me. Nothing was said about my firearm, but I was in and out pretty quick since they didn't have what I needed.

Had a decent encounter this morning at the York County Wal-Mart. I got into a discussion with the nice lady checking receipts at the door about shoplifters and she said that they do have the right to check the receipts but they cannot look into peoples' bags. She told me a few stories of what people have done to try to steal.

I asked her about the policy on open carry and she was obviously unaware. She did even realize it was legal. I suggested that she talk to the management to get a take on what they understand their policy to be.

She mentioned that a while back someone came in carrying but by the time they got the manager on it he was already out of the store. I gave her a little education and she was surprised but not alarmed.

Oh this is my pet peeve! Well, one of them at least...

I'm sure she is just repeating the company line, but this really angers me. I bought my stuff, I own my newly bought stuff, I don't know of any law that requires me to prove to anyone that I am not a shoplifter, or any law that requires me to surrender my personal purchase information to someone standing at the door on the way out.

Fortunately for me (ha, and probably for Wal-Mart) they are absolutely racists when it comes to their "receipt checking" enforcement, so they never even give me a glance, other than a nod and a "have a nice day" when I leave.

I want to hide a camera somewhere and do an exposé on the fact that they disproportionately check receipts of minorities.

TFred (with apologies for the OT rant!)

I was concealing thus morning but during my conversation I revealed my gear including two extra mags. By then she was completely comfortable talking with me. Makes me wonder though if she ever did ask her management.

I was just in the Hampton WalMart and the previous poster is right, the sign saying you can't buy ammunition when carrying a handgun is gone. I bought some .357 with a revolver on hip and nobody said anything about it.

"She got this look on her face like "damn this dude means business". Then she justchanges the "law" right there in front of me , likesome kind of wizard or somethingand tells me that she must escort meout the store, to my car , after I buy the ammunition. I agree and cough up the 25 bucks for 100 rounds."

You acually spent your hard earned money there? No ammo is worth that.Evenif it was$10 for a box of 100 rounds of whatever ammo..... If they treat me like that and they aren't getting a cent.

Hey guys,

This is the weekend for the Hampton Gun Show at the Hampton Convention Center. The convention center is right next to the Hampton WalMart:quirky

Maybe I should walk in and ask for Olga with the Sig on the hip and the Mossberg slung .

No real reason to do it except that I can.;)
