OK so I head on over to the Hampton walmart today on Mercury blvd. to try and find some 9mm ammo at reasonable prices. I walk in, rollin with my Keltec P11 in my hip holster. A few stares from the locals, nothing of note, yet.

I head onback to the Sport's section, notice plenty of 9mm ammo and ask for 2 boxes of 50. This is where it gets crazy, the obese black man and his equally obese white female co-worker start to ask each other "so you gonna tell him"? Eventually the guy walks over to me and says "we can't sell you any ammunition if you got a weapon ". My brain just screams "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong with you"? But my mouth says, "why not"? He tells me it's the law, with a very authoritative tone.

I quickly tell him that is not the law, at which point he says it is. I said that is not state law, andI wish to see a manager. The woman picks up the phone and says that the mnager is not answering, and whenI reiterate that I know what the law is and I want to see a manager, the male walks off to go get the manager.

While he is gone the woman quickly says that she does not agree with the "policy" and does not know when they started using it. I tell her that Wal-mart corporate policy is to generally mimic state law, then the manager and the guy come back.

The manager is an attractive young blound, named Olga, with a VERY heavy European accent,(man ifI wasn't married), she ask me ,"What is the problem"? I tell her what the employee has told me and she says, "OK" I tell her that is not the law, and certainly not Walmart corporate policy, and that I have been shopping at walmart for many years and have NEVER heard of this policy, thenI ask her when Walmart began using this policy? She got this look on her face like "damn this dude means business". Then she justchanges the "law" right there in front of me , likesome kind of wizard or somethingand tells me that she must escort meout the store, to my car , after I buy the ammunition. I agree and cough up the 25 bucks for 100 rounds.

On our way out the store I inform her that it is really hard for me to spend my 200 dollars in grocery money at the store with her escorting me out, and that I do not like being treated like a criminal. She insist that she is not treating melike a criminal. Before I tell her thatI will be contacting the district manager I notice she is walking really fast, too fast for me , so I slooow it down, way down, she is obviously uncomfortable, lol,.

I then ask her where she is from , she tells me she just transfered from Colorado, not really the question I was asking but, whatever. I then told her that anybody age 18 and older in Va. can open carry, and that If I wanted to walk in the store with a shotgun slung across my back, I would not be breaking the law. She then proceeds to tell me that she disagrees with Americans being able to own guns and carry them as well!!!!!! WTF!!!!!

So as we reach the outside of the store,I tell her that shedoes not know me, and by walking out of the strore with someone she KNOWS is armed is not what her job is and could be dangerous if I truley were a criminal, she says she does not care, and we continue to my car.

So we walk up to the back of my vehicle, not that she would know anyway, andI stop walking and she hands me my ammo and begins to walk away. I say "Hey Olga you don't even know if this is my car"! She then tells me she is not going to argue with me and keeps walking back to the store. I am just blown away at the disreguard this immigrant has for our laws but her own personal safety as well!

I then go to the York county Walmart and finish my grocery shopping.

You might want to give it a think before you try something like that and you're wrong.

Communist influence has apparently outlived the iron curtain. Doesn't surprise me that she was anti due to her nationality, but it's sad that she could be that ungrateful. Maybe next time her country of origin is in risk of being taken over by a dictator we should just watch it happen on TV. We could send them a nice letter explaining that we don't want to get involved because Olga said she didn't like guns.... :banghead:

Doesn't sound like he's actually planning to do that, but what law would he be breaking if he were to do it?

I would definitely write or call a higher up. What she did is not consistent with policy (not that it matters) and not very professional. Can we start treating people who buy condoms in this fashion? How about lighters? Cutlery?

You did good standing your ground without being rude. But now you must seal the deal. Management can not act on such problems if they don't know about them.

I'm going to call them tommorrow morning. On the way home I realized that if she was SOOOO concerned about me being some type of criminal, and had to escort me out the store with my ammo, dispitethe fact that I was already wearing a loaded pistol; why did she not even check my ID to buy handgun ammunition? Again, WTF!

You are put in charge of a store that sells firearms and ammunition and not even required to know the laws governing those items?!:banghead:

I think the black "gentelman" at the sporting goods counter you described is the same one who gave me a WTF look and evil starelastfall during the daytimewhile OC'ing on a hot day.I made a quick pass through sporting goods. He wispered something toanother clerk while staring at me as I quickly passed through.I was in a hurry looking for something. Ididn't spend more than 5 minutes in the store and checkout line.

Since I work nights Istopthere quite often after midnight. I'll have to ask one of the clerks that works in sporting goods on the night crewthat I talk to once in a whileif he knows what is going on about said "policy".

I OC'd to that walmart a week or two ago to buy some 9mm. I noticed a sign stating that they won't sell ammo to you if you're armed. I hadn't seen it before. I tried to keep my strong side away from the guy just in case, so im not sure if he noticed, but nothing was said about it.

My wife is from Russia.

She loves the fact she can have a gun here.

Eh, you actually got lucky. There's one guy that works back there that assumes he's an expert on all things sporting goods related and getting him to even open the ammunition cabinet turns into a lecture. I won't even go near the back counter if Bear isn't working. He's about the only decent employee they have. I also noticed the wonderful sign they have up saying if you're wearing a firearm you can't buy ammunition. I just make it a point to ignore it. You could have a pistol on each hip in that place and I promise you that someone still has you out gunned.

At least your Walmart has 9mm ammo to purchase. My closest one is all out of 9mm, .40 and .45. I am down to 3 boxes of 9. To get on topic, I have never had an incident such as this in VA Bch nor do the stores have that stupid sign posted. I am always armed when buying ammo. Even when I can't buy it because they are out.
