Well - so we decided we kinda like to eat, and being an avid open carry person (although just newly a member on here) we decided to go to one of the bigger Price Choppers close to our house *Yes we live in the 'ghetto'*
So as usual - I put on my trusty XDM paddle holster etc.
But anywho, we grab a cart, walk over the the lotto ticket machine (IN FRONT OF THE SECURITY GUARD) - get some tickets - mozy through produce (scratching our tickets and getting some veggies, make it through the 'fresh meat section' (after placing our order so the person behind the counter that doesnt speak very good english finally gets it correct)..
Then on to cereal.. Yes the wife loves it so it's on the list.. Next thing you know i see the security guard walk by our isle, then not 30 seconds later the cop shows up pulls his badge and starts asking questions..
The first was "Who are you, which i clearly told him Bryan", and then he explained that I'm a nobody, and asked if I had a CCW, which I told him I did not - because frankly I was not concealing my weapon (except for a little bit that might have been hidden from a fat roll).. I'm carrying a Full Size XDM - not one you really 'hide', nor do i have any intentions to hide it..
After we establish that I do not have a CCW - i was told that there is a City Ordinance for Grandview, MO prohibiting open carry.. (Oh great..)
So he asks me to hand over my gun - and being the 'good citizen' i am, he then takes my locked and loaded gun, and carries it 1/2 way through the store to the 'security' office, where he then decides to unload it.
(A few jokes aside - as i'm not real fond of glocks *which is what he had* - and me telling him not to fondle mine too much or he'd fall in love. (AND me showing him how to unload it)
'Detains' me for a good 15 minutes, while he calls the PD to run my name, and run the serial number of my pistol, then says since he's being 'nice' - he's going to escort me out to my car so i can put my gun away, and I can then finish shopping.
Anywho we finish shopping - and go out to the car for the nice fresh grandview air.. Mmmm BLUNTS! (But no - i'm the bad guy because I like to excersize my right to have MY gun)..
I really only had one comment to the cop - Bad guys dont wear holsters.. (I realize thats not always true) but someone intentionally not trying to hide it - isnt the person they should be bothering..
For me - No more Grandview Price Chopper..
The only thing is - i come home, and start going through municipal codes for KC, Grandview etc - and i dont find ANYTHING stating open carry is illegal per any city ordinance. (Sec 17-41) in Grandviews that pretty much says the same as the state law for Unlawful use of *
Could someone point me in the right direction? Was this guy blowing smoke up my rear - or do i need to just give my business to KC instead of going 5 miles south.
