Okay,

I see a point with a background check, but the classes? The money? The permit itself should be illegal as the second amendment is very clear:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. "

Do they not know that there are two rights contained herein? The right of the people to KEEP and BEAR arms, SHALL NOTbe INFRINGED.

Keep - American Heritage Dictionary

1. To retain possession of: kept the change; must keep your composure. 2. To have as a supply: keep an ax in the shed.

Bear - American Heritage Dictionary

1. To hold up; support. 2. To carry from one place to another; transport.

Shall Not - American Heritage Dicationary

b. Something, such as an order, promise, requirement, or obligation: You shall leave now. He shall answer for his misdeeds. The penalty shall not exceed two years in prison.

Infringed - American Heritage Dictionary

1. To transgress or exceed the limits of; violate: infringe a contract; infringe a patent.

To encroach on someone or something; engage in trespassing: an increased workload that infringed on his personal life.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary and the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, licensing ownership (keep) and carry (bear) of firearms is unconstitutional and should not be allowed. I propose we have a pro-gun lawyer jump into this forum so we can discuss these matters. The Washington State Forum has a couple lawyers. We MUST bring a suit against the State of New Mexico. It is our duty as American Citizens to inform and correct the government of its errors.

Agreed, we shouldn't have to, but there is a solid legal basis for requiring permit to carry in New Mexico.

First, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution only prohibits the federal government from infringing that right. In an ideal world, yes, we would have completely protected rights to keep and bear all arms from all governments, federal, state, local or in a dystopian future, global.

Fortunately for us N.M. people, our state constitution protects our right to keep and bear arms and prohibits local governments from passing gun laws. This is especially good for people living in the National Socialist City of Albuquerque or the People's Republic of Santa Fe.

Unfortunately, the state constitution says that nothing mentioned there can be construed to protect a right to carry concealed. Old west stuff...concealed carry is seen as dishonorable and they didn't foresee a nazi/commie future where open carry was restricted in any way.

I don't like it either. In places like Alaska all kinds of carry are legal. Should be that way everywhere. But then again I am one of those extremists that think arms include everything from a slingshot to a thermal detonator...so nobody listens to people like us these days.

What I'd like is for New Mexico to issue CCW's to permanent Residents such as me and I'm sure that there are many more that are in my position that would love to be able to CCW when needed. But until them and If I get a CCW I'll OC but It would be nice to be able to go shopping with the Wife and not have to leave the gun in the car
