Well, after about four weeks of discussing the issues with my wife, she finally agreed to go with me as my witness on my first open carry. I knew I married the right woman. (Actually, I had to agree to help wash the dinner dishes.)

So with my route plotted to stay out of school zones, recorder taped to my chest, mic peaking out from under my shirt, UOC flyer in my back pocket, a CZ75B with empty mag in a level II holster on my right and two full mags on my left, a friendly witness at my side (talking my ear off), we went on our evening walk.

It was just over a mile. Walked along one busy street, but mostly residential. Passed by a handful of people. One car slowed way down and stopped as we walked by. I thought that person might be calling in a MWAG, but the walk was uneventful...just what I had hoped for. :)

Feels good to have exercised my 2nd amendment right! :celebrate

Very cool! Washing dishes isn't a bad trade to have your wife by your side while out and about.

If you're cool with the staff at Shooter's (name's a bit ironic in this context) off of Indiana and Tyler, you can carry there. I did with family and friends during my first week of OC.

Congrats by the way!

Congrats on your first Open Carry!

In the future if you want to avoid taping a recorder to your chest (ouch :)) I can recommend this recorder http://go.shopsansa.com/content/clip I got the 1GB model from Radio Shack for like $25. It will record many hours of audio on that 1 gig. I wear it in my front pocket with the clip facing out (very low profile). Luckily when it's worn like that the pinhole mic faces out and picks up everything.

Be safe and keep your wife abreast with what you're doing.
