The Subject says it all, can I OC loaded in NV, UT, WY, and SD as a NON-RESIDENT passing through? If yes (in any of those states), and warnings, places not to, what about in the car down I-80, etc.?

NV---yep, just don't go into schools or universities, any of the public government buildings including libraries. Everything else is O.K., including bars. The bigcasinos will probably toss you out, the small ones may allow it. OC in a car is fine.

When do you plan on making your travels?

Utah law is in Flux right now with NEW laws taking effect May 11 which will allow ANYONE otherwise legal for a firearm to openly or concealed car carry loaded or not.

As long as you are not legally intoxicated (BAC .08 or higher) you can carry. My personal rule is I don't drink AT ALL so I can carry!

Watch out for School zones..... you may be legal to carry in your car (by Utah law...Federal limits still apply)but if you step out of your car while carrying without a UTAH concealed permit when within 1000ft of a school that you reasonably should know about you would be in violation of both state and federal law.

If your planned trip has you in UTAH before May 11 then different rules apply!

And remember, IANAL and the preceding is not legal advice and we never had this conversation!

It is perfectly legal in the state of Wyoming.

In Utah, I'd carry without one in the chamber (or next position if it's a revolver). That's "utah unloaded" and stay away from schools while open carrying.

Anyone can now conceal while in vehicle in Utah.

In Nevada open carry is legal as Loneviking says.

You can carry in bars but you cannot have a BAC of .10 while carrying.

As he says the schools, universities, and child care facilities are off limits, as are places federal law prohibits firearms, such as post offices and other places.

However, most public government buildings it is legal to carry openly within. Whether this invites hassle or not could be another story, but I carry openly in a lot of public government buildings. Many of these buildings have signs saying "no guns per 202.3673" but this technically only applies to concealed firearms since the 202.3673 says something along the lines of "a permittee shall not carry a concealed firearm" in places with such signage or a metal detector. Last time I went to the DMV I carried openly. When they confronted me about it I showed them a copy of 202.3673 and told them it only applied to concealed firearms and they let me continue my business.
