Last night I went to the Redondo pier which is covered by the City of DesMoines PD. There was a lot of people down there this night.

Anyways... all was fine. Went out on the pier just to relax and watch the sunset. On my way back to my Truck, two LEO's rolled up and one said Hi, I waved back. He asked me how I was doing, I said fine. He told me he was just checking as someone had called in and people are just not used to seeing others OC. He said he knows of another up on the Highway99 that OC ( Derso72 ). We talked a bit. I extended my hand to shake his and he , shook it without hesitation. This officer was more than professional. I walked to my truck, they left before I did. I am sure there where a lot of people that just went, uh? no arrest? End of story.

Since this is my first face to face LEO encounter since OC for about 1 year now where I was actually the one called on it was in need of posting. I think more positive encounters will generate more positive responses. Now if we can just train the general population about OC we would all be fine.
Never got out of his car, Never asked for ID, Never asked for CWL.:celebrate

HUGE +1 to the LEO. Got a call, checked it out, saw nothing illegal, made contact, confirmed nothing wrong and had a polite conversation ending with a hand shake! From half a continent away I wish I knew the LEOs name so I could send a complimentary email to chain of command on reasonable, responsible, respectful follow-up to a MWG call. I certainly hope the OP sends such a letter to the local chain of command.

While some may suggest that the LEO just did what he should have done and that it deserves no special consideration, my psych degree and behaviorist specialist history says that rewarding such non-issue, respectful interactions leads to future non-issue, respectful interactions.

+1. Positive reinforcement does work... and work well.

You've got the date, approximate time, and a location. Call the station and say you want to write an accommodation to be place in his file. You want to make friends with LE?That is one way to do it.

Carry on!
