Basically this "little" piece of legislation would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

    - You are licensed (5 year license)
    - It is registered
    - You are fingerprinted
    - You supply a current Driver's License
    - You supply your Social Security #
    - You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
    - Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25

Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

This has officially been referred to committee, where it ought to die a painful death by mockery.

Very few people with a functioning brain cell are worried about this.

It was last congressional session and back then he had like 9 cosponsors for it or something. It never made it out of committee. The guy introducing it (forgot his name) is a raving loony illinois (chicago?) hack.

Now he has zero cosponsors this time around.

It's an ugly bill, but it's pretty much too ridiculous to have a chance of passing, even in this congress. And therein is shown the disconnect - a lot of non-gunners think it sounds like perfectly reasonable "common sense".

    - What da hay?

It has also been "threaded" into submission here since the day it was introduced in early January. A search is likely to turn up a baker's dozen or two on this one topic.

The ambiguity hadn't occurred to me, but take what you will from it. ;-/
