Very well done; concise, truthful, and short enough (and absent ranting) to get it printed in the hardcopy edition of the paper.

By Hubert Hoffman / Onalaska, Wis.

Citizens of La Crosse and the surrounding counties:

Wisconsin citizens have had the ability to carry firearms since before Wisconsin was a state. The state Legislature determined almost 100 years ago that the legal way to carry a firearm was “openly” by making concealed carry illegal.
On April 20, an advisory memo was released by Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s office to every district attorney in the state advising them that “open carry” is not, in and of itself, disorderly conduct, i.e. open carry is not a crime.

When you see people peaceably carrying holstered firearms at Menards, Walmart, the grocery store, the mall or the restaurant, remember they are not criminals; they are legally carrying in the manner required by law.
