Good luck!Well after my incident last week, the officer that wrote a "report" on me sent a copy to the gun board about my "open carry". Well 4 days later there is a letter for me in the mail saying to meet the gun board this Thursday. Should be interesting to see what they are going to have to say.
Is this a regular gun board meeting? Be sure to record the your portion of the meeting. Public meetings are not free from recording. If they refuse you ask for the forms for an appeal, etc. Don't argue, but do stand your ground. Ask for the reason of the denial. I would call someone on the board and ask what it's about, perhaps they plan on arresting you. Be sure to leave your firearm at home.Well after my incident last week, the officer that wrote a "report" on me sent a copy to the gun board about my "open carry". If they ask, ask them what you did that was unlawful. Tell that OC is legal and you were following the law at all times.http://www.co.jackson.mi.us/countyclerksoffice/concealed.aspx
Looks like it was a planned meeting. It's just funny how I recieved the letter less than a week before the planned meeting, and only several days after the report was sent to them.
I had to delete the story because they are considering charging me with a crime. I'll update everything once I know I am in the clear in a court of law.
Why would they care? They make their bogus claims and move on without repercussions. Their worst case scenario is that they may have to appear in court...Big deal, theyshow up for work each day, still get paidand it's no skin off their azz.SNIP
At the end of the report the officer wrote she was sending a copy of the report to the gun board, and another copy to the prosecuting attorney "for warrant consideration of CCW in a motor vehicle". After watching the videos from te squad cars I'm assuming it is because the officer thinks the only place you can take a firearm is to the range if you don't have a CPL.
If I am charged I will be getting an attorney. I have already spoke with several pertaining to this matter, and have picked out the one I will be contacting if I am arrested for this nonsense and charged.
Tomorrow I either clear the air with the prosecuting attorney and he/she see's I did nothing against the law, or they charge me with a bogus claim. Either way I'm hoping to walk out of there with my CPL tomorrow.
