Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn is an anti-gun liar and hypocrite as evidenced by the fact that in his press conference dog and pony show announcing that MPD will be deploying Smith and Wesson Patrol Rifles he repeated refers to seized weapons as "military grade armament" and "military assault rifles" when they are in FACT semi-automatic weapons that can be legally purchased at any gunshop. They are in FACT the EXACT TYPE of weapons that MPD will be deploying but when he talks about THOSE weapons he refers to them correctly as "semi-automatic weapons" and gives a detailed description of what a semi-automatic weapon is so the press is not confused.

Why the need for misdirection? Because he is an anti-gunner. What else should we expect from a Police Chief who blatantly lies and promotes disinformation concerning weapons and (in defiance of the AG of Wisconsin) has ordered his "troops" to "take to the ground" anybody who open carries a handgun in Milwaukee even though this is a LEGAL ACTIVITY.

I have NO issue with MPD having these weapons, but some honesty would go a long way in establishing credibility with this chief who currently has NONE. Note he mentions a situation where MPD was shot at with an SKS "assault rifle" . . . So it's only an "assault rifle" when it's not one of his "troops" who has it?

I couldn't be happier that I moved out of Milwaukee.

Chief Flynn has other things to worry about. Look who his department GIVES guns!

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee police officer has resigned after being arrested for a drug-related crime.
In an e-mail, police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz says the off-duty lieutenant was arrested shortly before midnight Sunday by officers who were patrolling to combat violent crime and drug activity.
Schwartz says the 45-year-old officer was arrested after he ran from officers. He was suspended, but resigned Monday.
He had 22 years of service and was assigned to the Neighborhood Task Force, which focuses on areas with the highest potential for violent crime.
Schwartz says he was issued a city citation for drug-related loitering. The district attorney's office is expected to review the case later this week.

Does anyone remember when several of the Milwaukee police got busted for dealing cocaine?it was centered arounda bar named "The lost Dutchman" on Water near Juneas street.
it had an interior like a gold mine, it was a real dive. The bar wasunder survelience for suspicion of cocaine trafficking, and they caught several uniformed milwaukee police going inside, purchasing cocaine from the establishment. while On-duty, in uniform, and their squad cars! it was quite comical to watch the videos on the news. it was not just 1 or 2 officers, they got quite a few.

Now remember, those are only the ones that got caught, how many got away clean?
Anytime I hear people decribe the MPD as being a good department, i need to laugh a little becuase of all their bunglings.

yeah, its rediculous that police are trustworthy with guns but law abiding citizens aren't. We've got police officers charged with brandishing their gun:

We've got the above story of MPD LIEUTENANT hanging out and getting arrested at drug houses

We've got sherrifs/police officers in wisconsin that go on murder sprees

Police brutality on the rise across the country since 2001 and Milwaukee ranking 2nd in terms of police officers charges with crimes in 2007

Its ironic that people think police are so trustworthy with guns but law abiding citizens are not.

And I guess the founding fathers really did have foresight when they said that the primary reason for armed citizens was as a protection against tyranny from the government.
