And the Advocate newspaper covered the hype and hysteria here->

Of course they have plenty of misinformations such as -
Legislation that would allow licensed handguns on the state’s college campuses was approved Tuesday by the Louisiana House Criminal Justice Committee.
The fact is there are no licensed handguns in Louisiana. We don't license weapons here. Now if you want to get a Concealed Handgun Permit from the State Police that's fine. You can consider yourself licensed or Permitted if you choose. But none of your guns are licensed.

Don't skip over the part whre the Baton Rouge Police Chief admits that his officers or ill trained and incompetent. It isn't like citizens off campus can't already conceal and open carry. Now, responding on campus his officers will suddenly not know how to do their jobs.
Baton Rouge Police Chief Jeff LeDuff testified that legal guns on campus would confuse police during a real crisis. Police would be slowed down, LeDuff said, or police could even shoot an innocent, but armed, student.
His officers must be so proud of their commander.

The Chief of McNeese University Police goes even more extreme with her hysteria and lack of confidence in her officers or trust in legally armed citizens on her campus.

“If we go into a situation and there are several people with guns, we have to stop and address each one of those people,” Chief Cinnamon Salvador said Thursday.
“Every second we have to stop and spend with one of them to ascertain if they’re good or bad guys, the bad guy could still be in the building shooting people.”
How many people does she actually expect to have permits and be carrying daily? Few people bother getting permits and having guns with them regularly. During a school shooting she is't going to run into crowds of people with handguns.

Then she goes into Minority Report territory with his thinking by stating...
Salvador said the legislation would prevent McNeese police from stopping a student who is suspected of carrying a weapon before he enters the classroom.
“If this bill passes, we would have to allow that person to go into the classroom and start shooting before we would have a reason to stop them,” she said.
Wait...What? No you don't. If you suspect someone is concealing a weapon your officers can lawfully stop that person, ask for ID and permit and then if everything checks out the person can go about his business. For the most part, permitees rarely comit the crimes the Chief is worried about. If the student is acting strangely or violently the police can intervene.

Then she brings up places which, for some unknown reason, the public thinks it's not right to defend yourself.
“There are places where it’s just not acceptable to carry a weapon, and people understand that. It’s the same thing here.”
Why would there ever be any place where it's not acceptable to carry a weapon? That doesn't make any sense at all.

She points out how safe her campus is, how there are emergency phones scattered around campus and how defensive fighting classes are available. OK. Just about anything accept leveling the playing field when attacked.
