I know its quite a haul for those near Williamsburg to go to the Southside for a gathering (unless its a weekend) and the Southside folks have been very accomodating about the dinners in Yorktown. I know NO ONE likes dealing with that !@#$^*^ "Bridge Tunnel"!!!

I'm looking forward to any weekend thing within an hour's drive and maybe after school is out, we can do the Southside ride. Lets find out how many are in the Peninsula/Gloucester areas. Pagan told me there are some decent places to eat in his area and I'd love to check them out in the company of friends.

What say you all?

I'm at the beach and can't go through any of the tunnels without several days notice. Sorry guys, I'm on a leash.

My bad, guess I threw this in the wrong thread. I'm a Southerner!!! But I'm willing to take the underground railroad to one of your Northern evening get togethers!

I'm retired and willing to go wherever I gotta go to find like-minded folks. What's near the NC border? I hearthere's some good eats down near the swamp, too. Anyone that's seen me knows you can call me anything but late for dinner!

We've had the last 2 OC dinners on this side of the water. I think we owe the SouthSide Folks a dinner over there!

Where are we going next, Southsiders?

Sorry about Cinco De Mayo. Their food isn't thre greatest, but its simple and my kids like it, so we went there for Bridget's Birthday. The school year is winding down and she's done with her AP exams, so we can TRAVEL Southbound!

Where & When is the next one, folks?

From VCDL....

**************************************************
URGENT York County Action Item

**************************************************

It is getting harder and harder for a law-abiding gun-owner to be able to shoot a firearm because of restrictions created by Virginia's various localities. And now York County wants to jump on board with its own restrictions.

The York County Board of Supervisors is having a hearing TONIGHT (May 19th) at 6 PM on a proposed firearm-discharge ban that will affect a large part of the County.

The ordinance will ban all rifle shooting that is not done at a gun range (no more shooting a rifle at home). It will also ban discharge of any firearm, BB, or paintball gun powered by carbon dioxide, within 300 feet of homes or businesses (unless the owners of those homes or businesses agree), as well as within 1,000 feet of school property.

We need to have a good turnout of York County residents to urge the Board of Supervisors to NOT pass the ordinance, leaving current laws alone.

Points to be made:

* The Second Amendment and Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia

Constitution give the right to individuals to keep and bear arms.

Shooting is an important part of that right and as long as it is being done safely should not be infringed. State law is sufficient to control firearms discharge.

* Rifles can be shot safely on private property with a berm. There is no need to force rifles to be discharged only at a gun range.

* Restricting the discharge of BB guns and paintball guns, especially a 300 foot limitation, is particularly ludicrous. BB guns can be shot in a house currently and this ordinance would prevent even that if there is a home or business within 300 feet.

The meeting is at:

Board Room

York Hall

301 Main Street

Yorktown

I think this will get more Southside attention if posted under the "Tidewater May OC Dining Out" thread. This thread topic is "PENINSULA OC population?" kind of leads one to think it's for Peninsula folks :uhoh:. I'd post one but I've posted too many already - it's someone (anyone) elses turn.
