Open-carry picnic "went off without a hitch," Greenfield police say
By Tom Kertscher of the Journal Sentinel

Posted: May. 26, 2009 2:46 p.m.

Greenfield - Gun owners displaying their guns in holsters held an open-carry picnic at a resident's home Monday.

About two dozen adults and children attended, Greenfield Police Deputy Inspector Brad Wentlandt said Tuesday.

"They exercised their right to bear arms and it went off without a hitch," he said.

The event, held near S. 28th St. and W. Holmes Ave. was promoted at www.OpenCarry.org.

Anything thing like this is just helping our cause even more. Great to see people carrying firearms without everyone getting shot. Keep up the good work everyone.

Also in the news:

Dan Jansen festival: gang violence, LEO injured in fight

Other events in Milwaukee: "left four people wounded and one person dead in three separate shootings, according to Milwaukee police."

Open Carry Picnic: About 40 people attended, nearly all openly carrying a firearm. Number of incidents of violence: zero
Number of new friendships made: several

Yeah, Seriously...

Greg's neighbor on the news (ch. 4) said she didn't think the picnic was safe... that it was "an accident waiting to happen"

Perhaps she would have felt safer at Dan Jansen fest.

Greg's house was probably THE safest place in Milwaukee county yesterday.
