Wild West Third: Proponents of Ohio's "open carry" law -- a provision that allows legal gun owners to carry their weapons in public as long as they are in plain view -- plan to drive home the point with a demonstration today in Cleveland. A handful of gun owners will gather near Browns Stadium on West Third Street at 11 a.m., then walk to the Justice Center.
Joe Ponikvar of Cleveland, an open carry proponent who plans to wear his Glock 17 on a hip holster, said he notified Cleveland Police, but wishes he didn't have to.
"Do I write a letter to the chief of police telling him I'm going to mow my lawn?" he asked. "The point is, I shouldn't have to. Open carry is legal in Ohio."
