Thank you for the welcome, so are there any current picnic or outing plans other than the trash collection?

Welcome! There are no picnics planned at this time that I am aware of. I'm pretty sure you'd see a thread about it if there was one in planning stages. Out of curiosity, how old are you? I only ask that because there are some misconceptions when it comes to owning and carrying a firearm.

I am currently a minor in high school, I am not giving out my age because we are on an open forum, no offense meant by that.

I also know that it is illegal for me to own or carry ( unless escorted by a legal guardian who is within sight range while hunting large game) any type of hand gun in the state of Wisconsin because I am under the age of 18.

but since I am a hunters education graduate, I may legally own a and purchase a hunting and/or plinking rifle if accompanied by a legal parent/guardian.

If there is any information or knowledge other than that you may have that I have stated here I would be glad to hear it.

Thank You

I commend you on acting on your beliefs , but isn't the legal age to purchase and own a handgun , 21 years of age?

That is where Wisconsin laws are a little bit screwy,

At age

15 you are able to:
purchase a rifle if escorted by a legal guardian

16:you are able to
purchase a rifle if escorted by a legal guardian
Hunt and travel to firearms ranges and clubs alone if a Wisconsin Hunter Saftey
course is correctly and fully completed by the the owner of the rifle

18 you are able to:
Purchase a rifle alone
Own a hand gun
Travel to ranges and use as side arm while hunting
just open carrying
Purchase ammunition for almost any weapon

21 you are able to:
Purchase a rifle or pistol
own a rifle or pistol
purchase any ammunition available to the public
open carry
travel to ranges
and anything else that is legal

That is all that I can currently think of at the moment if there is anything else you are wondering I am a wiz with computers and finding out lots of information.

Thank You

I think I'm going have to disagree with this one. Pretty sure you can't own a handgun until 21 yrs of age. You might be able to posess one with a legal guardian but that'a all.

Just move to Alaska or Montana and carry at age 14! Just kidding, I think that's a bit insane. 18 is fine and that's what it should be for everything. If you can serve in the military and deploy overseas, you should be able to drink and buy a hand gun.

Anyways, nice to see supporters of all ages, even ones who can't carry yet.

Welcome to the forums!

Well you can open carry a handgun at 18, and pretty sure you can even just own one, long as somebody else buys it for you. But maybe not, I don't read every law there is, just the ones I need to know :D

GREAT NEWS I GOT THE REALS SCOOP ON LEGAL ISSUE OF OWNING A HAND GUN,

"at age 18 a person can legally own a any type of firearm, but an 18 year old can not purchase any type of firearm"

That is what the police officer at my school told me today :) so that is settled for Wisconsin laws at least.

Yea that's pretty much it. At 18 you can own, carry, transport, and fire a handgun. But at 18 you can buy any type or rifle be it a .308 bolt action or an ar-15.

Ok, now down to the real planning of a group event,

Lets decide what we would like to do over this summer
we could:

1. Picnic
2. Trash Clean Up
3.Charitable event money fund raiser ( raise money for children's funds here in
Wisconsin)
4.Walk Leading to somewhere
5.....

Tell me what you think.

I think its time to step up the game a bit here. Picnics are ok as a get together but isnt going to show the public enough. 15 second blurbs on the news isnt going to get the word out the way we need it.

We need to plan something on a larger scale. A march, or rally that will get some major attention. I was 100 percent for the Madison march, and was very disappointed that it never got off the ground. We need the public to see it as a normal and accepted occurrence rather that a oddity. If I'm wrong let me know, but I think its time to do something more.

Nothing will send a better message than open carrying on a regular basis going about your regular activities.

First, as I always say, ultimately, people should do what they feel is best when it comes to these endeavors.

But it seems to me marches are for protesting. What are we protesting? I don't think we need to isolate ourselves like that.

The roadblocks to our freedom right now are the school zone and vehicle carry.
